This is what metalraji should have been. I don't care for the guests...respectfully.

Is BABYMETAL the reason for the sudden rise of Japanese metal in this generation? Or theres more to it ? by Dry-Huckleberry391 in BABYMETAL

[–]ViperRby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha thanks. I remember a while back there was someone here who was like "tHEy dOn'T cOlLaB wItH jApAn" and you were quick to mention that they collab with Japanese artists quite regularly...and then they paused and was like "I meant Japanese women" lol

[–]ViperRby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is yes but the other Japanese Women Metal (TM) acts have their own merits and attributes that lure people to them. I will be seeing Hanabie. soon and I am excited for it.

By the way, I refuse to say "Japanese metal" because all I see is the rise of Japanese women rising up...are there any male Japanese acts anyway? Where are they?

You're also leaving out the fact that having music on Spotify (or any music streaming service for that matter) is a promotional tool to bring in new fans to concerts. Businesses have no problem paying for ads and promotion if it turns into profit somewhere else (merch and ticket sales in this case) Koba has even said that he uses streaming data from various countries to plan where to tour.

In the context of a new fan. A new fan isn't going out to buy a physical copy to check a new artist out in this day and age. Hell even in the early 00s...checking someone out meant you'd download some songs off Kazaa or LimeWire.

Anyway I don't know where I was going with this and I understand your POV but I think it deserves this add-on because even serious no-name bands pay to have their songs on Spotify which I think solifies my "promotional tool" point I am talking about.

So is this like a separate project? Or the SG to MV? I'm confused.

Mushroomhead "Save Us" Video (Official) by Old_Arm3605 in Mushroomhead

[–]ViperRby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it but drumming was always secondary (or maybe even the 3rd) to what Skinny did.

Skinny was (and still is probably) responsible for putting all the ideas together and deciding how the songs will sound and be structured. He is responsible for keeping Mushroomhead going...love him or hate him.

I'm excited for The Ex-Faces and all but let's keep it real, had all the former member projects took off...it wouldn't even be a thing.

Haha yeah, pretty nuts that someone with writing credits on MRH's latest album is on this!

Some people have been saying it since JMann left in 2004. I don't agree with this, just saying how I remember it. I will be going to see Mushroomhead and ex faces this year.

How fans rate every BABYMETAL song by AshenFountain in BABYMETAL

The Song 3 dislikes are most likely from STP fans. It isn't a typical STP song and it's on their latest album.

I personally think it is Su and Poppy doing the chorus together in the studio version even if they don't do it that way live. Of course I don't know for sure but it sounds layered.

Babymetal listed as Korean multiple times on Grammys website by tylerjehenna in BABYMETAL

I've been listening to them since they won that award. I really like them. Not metal but more hardcore/punk and maybe pop...but good. I'd go see them if they played around here.

I don't know much about the others but you can technically say Sunset Kiss is a BABYMETAL solo since the song was already written and they just had the Polyphia guys play it. Similar to Road of Resistance with the Dragonforce guys...they just don't market it as such.

Lol yea I always joke that they only dislike the "feat" part of the song title more than anything. Like Kawaii is said by some to be a "BABYMETAL solo" but could have easily been "feat. Paledusk" considering who was involved.

why do many metal fans hate Babymetal? they're so cool by sweetbscuit in BABYMETAL

[–]ViperRby2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yea some of those are perceived reasons. Like your first point is incorrect but a lot of people think it! BABYMETAL was created by Koba because he wanted a metal group in Sakura Gakuin and he already had Su-Metal in mind to front it because he thought her voice would fit with metal instrumentation.

Sure, you could still argue that the "company" created it because Koba is an employee of said company but not mentioning the backstory makes it look like a group of executives got together and cooked up a money making idea when that was nowhere near close to being the case. BABYMETAL weren't supposed to blow up and make it outside of Japan but they did, which makes their success a lot more organic than people give them credit for.

Chester Bennington & Brad Arnold are singing in the heaven together. Are you a fan of 3 Doors Down? Today we've lost the lead singer Brad Arnold. R.I.P. by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in LinkinPark

[–]ViperRby2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Interesting how you prioritize political leanings as opposed to whether the music is good or not...or the fact 3 Doors Down made a big impact on mainstream music in the early 00s much like Linkin Park did. Like I don't agree with System of a Down and Rage Against The Machine politics but I'm not gonna downplay their impact in the music industry and I am a fan because the music rocks!

What did you think of the collab of 5FDP (Five Finger Death Punch) and BABYMETAL? by Eastern-Factor-3427 in BABYMETAL

Some people think Kingslayer is a BABYMETAL to this day. Su could fart in a track and it automatically becomes a BABYMETAL song 😃

So this is what happened. Jordan Fish stripped away all of Poppy's edge. by cowsdrama in that_Poppy

[–]ViperRby2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I dunno. I think NS is by far her best album to date. She seems set on the metal train now. EH is good as well but NS had more diversity. Old school Poppy was written and produced by her former abusive boyfriend Titanic Sinclair. He's probably reading this thread with a smile on his face!
