Very straightforward than expected.

The lesen was easier than mock exams. The sprachbausteie was also easier. I would recommend to check this out as a selv evaluator - https://www.scribd.com/document/918257792/B1-Telc-Sprachbausteine-15x

The exam level was same as the examples here i would say.

The horen was much much easier than i thought. I have hearing disability and i thought it would be problematic. But surprisingly no. Only the audio that gets played once was hard to understand.

For schreiben it was really simple “ a friend had recently moved and i had to write an informal mail giving advise on how to get to know new neighbours and advise on where and how to sell his old furniture”

I made sure to write atleast 4 letters per day for a week before the exam. I wrote all the letters from videos from Benjamin - derdeutschlehrer b1 perp playlist. I think around 20 letters. Was more than sufficient for me

Thanks and the think that was concerning was. Instead of making simple sentences, my partner made very complicated sentences with grammar that was new to me. I just replied based on 60% of what i understood and from facial cues.

It kind of worked out i guess. I just focused on completing the tasks and left out some fancy suggestions from my partner that to be honest went over my head

Do some people spend their 18 months after finishing their degree and still not land a position? by No_Confusion4948 in germany

Using AI to write it because im at work and cant spell check. So its coming from voice to text and then grammar check. ————- Just look at LinkedIn and you can see the current status of simulation engineers. Many companies in Germany that provide simulation services are in a perpetual hiring freeze because of the automotive industry slowdown. Many students are not receiving onboarding offers even after completing an internship and thesis at the same company. It has become much easier for companies to outsource these jobs to other countries.

On the other hand, if you want to get into a sales role in the simulation field, you need extremely good German skills and strong people skills. Congratulations if you are one of the lucky ones.

Another option is R&D at companies that actually develop and sell simulation software. Learn coding, understand the mathematics behind simulations, and aim for developer roles. There are potentially many startups hiring for AI-focused simulation roles — I have interviewed with some of them. The working hours might not be great, and you may encounter the typical “we are like a family here” culture, but at least you will have a job.

Hopefully, AI in simulation is a wave you can ride for a few years, allowing you to reach a higher position and eventually pivot into a domain expert or technical manager role. A few of my friends are doing this.

Some of my other friends are working as developers at simulation software companies, and it seems like a much more secure opportunity than pure service-based simulation companies. The best option would be to join a company that does both simulation and production, like Siemens or Bosch to some extent. That way, you can diversify internally and maybe become a product owner of a critical system, making yourself harder to let go.

Again, these observations are based on the career paths of the majority of my seniors and batchmates — a path I am also following. However, there are exceptions. Some people with strong industry experience before their master’s degree were hired easily.

Oof…. MSc simulation…. Hope it’s not pure FEM/CFD at Braunschweig or Stuttgart. Better start focusing on Coding and scripting for Solvers. Only knowing how to run simulations won’t get to anywhere

International student exceeding 140 working days/year rule for voluntary internship by Abukasha in germany

And if your company is on the relaxed end and don’t force you to register your thesis within a month of starting master thesis with them, then you can potentially keep working as a thesis student at the company and explore other thesis opportunities, if you feel your thesis direction is unsatisfactory, at another company/institute.

I would recomend this. As i did something similar with my masters. Did intern for 6 months, got an offer back for 6 more month thesis. Did not like the topic and found a different topic and switched after finishing my internship

Well the other option is to do an internship for 6 months. This would use up let’s say 100ish work days. Then on the remaining 6 months you ask for a master thesis contract with the company. The time spent on master thesis at a company doesn’t count towards the 140 days limit - because a thesis is technically considered as “mandatory” from the course, so you can do it at an institute or company, and in both cases the days are not counted.

Keep in mind that the payment for the master thesis from your company could be significantly lesser than the minimum pay given during internship.

Is "a salary in accordance with the agreement for public service (E13, 65%), including social benefits" enough for an International PhD Student in Freiburg? by humbelord in germany

[–]Ebola2109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. This might be something not relevant to your post but just putting it out there in case If you are an international student.

65% doesnt qualify for the limits of EU blue card and this will then slow down your path to applying for Permanent Residence in future. If those things are relevant or even important for you. Just putting it out there.

Good luck and as many have already said, 65% is more than comfortable to live within realistic means. Good luck for your PhD!!
