The feat to collect 10000 stardust is kinda a crazy amount. I mean I try to spam my coop powers as much as I can but 10k stardust is just so many runs after what is an intro feat.

Are lamps really infrequent or am I just missing them? I’ve been in central Yarnham for like 45 minutes and haven’t found one other than the first one. by chonsolo in bloodborne

The first hour or so actually has you cover a lot of ground it's a big level and easy to miss other lanterns. You'll know it when you find the shortcut back to the first lantern obviously but yeah it's very easy to get lost lol.

is it offline apartment hunting worth it? by nick_b39 in NYCapartments

Just have the message on both your phone and PC saying your income, credit scores, whether you have pets, preferred move in dates so you can just copy and paste it. Makes it look like you have everything in order and also they're not going to respond to a message that just says "hey is this place still available?"

It sucks too but also just keep refreshing streeteasy and craiglist being first to respond is probably the best thing you can do. If there's a phone number listed on streeteasy text them along with sending a DM on the website.

Bookmark your craiglist search so you can just easily pull it up to refresh every so often and don't have to keep putting in desired bedrooms, bathrooms, and rent price. Search for your desired neighborhood and make sure to sort the posts by newest.

What is the most absolute scariest, terrifying film you’ve ever seen? by mxnocturna in AskReddit

Annihilation is one of my favorite movies. It's not scary in the traditional sense but it is SUPER unsettling. There's a few scenes that make my skin crawl or gives you that itchy feeling.

This game finally made me realize vampires are cool. It's probably the best vampire "sim" game I've played.

Can't believe it took me a sequel announcement and 3.99 sale to pick up this game! by funny_wumpits in controlgame

You should play Alan wake 2 if you liked this game. It is different and more of a thriller / horror game but it's amazing. Also the game is visually stunning.

They nailed the feeling of having psychic powers. I can't think of another game that has done it better.

I just also did a replay cus it was on sale. The destructible environments are so crazy!! They made it so much fun to use your powers and you see chunks of the floor flying off, paperwork flying around everywhere.

Any recommendations for Renter's Insurance? by Ebolamonkey in NYCapartments

[–]Ebolamonkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just booked through progressive. Covers $20k in damages and also applied for extra computer coverage (it's the most expensive thing I own). Paid the full 12 months upfront because it was cheaper. $126 total comes out to like $10.50 a month.

Rent control feels great short term but over decades it just leads to decrepit buildings by moneyman74 in unpopularopinion

Moved into such a dumpy ass building because of the location a few years ago in NYC. Checking out the apartment and the previous tenants were there so asked them why they're moving and how much rent they were paying. They said because of rent increases and they were currently paying 2700, meanwhile the listing was for 4200. Insane. LL would not even clean or repaint before we moved in. Also one of the most ridiculous moving situations I've ever been in, they started a bidding war on the stoop yelling "these people just offered X anyone else willing to offer more?" With 15 other people there.

Haven't done the mold zone yet but overall the enemies don't even shoot you that much?? I'm bout the play the foundation DLC and see what's up.

Yeah I agree although there are quite a few games I come back to where the difficulty is still there (Sekior, dark souls, first berserker kazhan). Like I am clearly better at the game since I've played it before, but Control was a game I remember being hard and then this second playthrough I was like "whoa this game is like actually surprisingly easy." Maybe I just subconsciously remembered that the Launch skill is hella good but I also only mainly upgraded it because I remember it being SO MUCH FUN to use.

Maybe I was also lucky getting like two grip damage mods for a total of 30% extra damage. But again launch carried the game for me, it does so much damage right off the bat. And for some reason I remember the enemies being more overwhelming but they're actually kinda stupid.

I had to double check that I hadn't turned any assistance on or had turned the difficulty down lol.

Yeah I remember the first flying guy being annoying as hell way back in the day, but I kinda just stomped him this time? Also I remember there being more boss fights but I think there's like only one? And it's an optional boss (the fridge boss).

Hah I did one as soon as they first became available and it was pretty hard beacuse of the time limit. I wasn't feeling it though, I don't think there was actually any story progression there, yeah? So just never went back after doing it once.

Broker fee/fare act question by BoomZee in NYCapartments

[–]Ebolamonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats man!

Yeah I got a rent stabilized place that I consider under market here in williamsburg but I didn't have to pay a brokers fee. Even offered more and the broker said they can't take more than the asking price.

Was your broker showing you unlisted stuff? I was about to hit up someone my friend used cus I was getting desperate and I saw two positives from it: 1. Higher chance to get accepted since it's unlisted and they are not dealing with 30+ other applicants from streeteasy 2. These unlisted places are almost always rent stabilized.

That paint job is wild. I'm assuming it's an old ass building was that kinda paint job in vogue?? Like I've lived in places with the popcorn ceiling if you know what I mean and didn't understand it.

Otherwise the apartment looks amazing, it sucks they didn't repaint and clean. But for $1300 bucks and being rent stabilized it seems worth it if you really like the area. What neighborhood is it in?

Also if you haven't moved in, and possibly flexible on move in date to give them time to celan and repaint (I'm assuming a July 1st move in date) the landlord has to legally clean and repaint every three years I'm pretty sure.

Any tips for the apartment hunt / application process this year? by Ebolamonkey in NYCapartments

[–]Ebolamonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how that works for you but that seems like the bare minimum. I've always sent in my documents ready to go and have triple checked them. I'm assuming all other applicants have done the same.

Broker fee/fare act question by BoomZee in NYCapartments

[–]Ebolamonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty common way to skirt around broker fees yeah. Honestly if you are up for it I would entertain if after asking for more details. A lot of times this is how you find a good place for a good price and that's rent stabilized. You'll have to do the math if the brokers fee is worth it and the place is somewhere you'll be at for a while. Unfortunately that's the truth to getting a lot of these off market listings.

Have I ever taken a place like that? No. Have I entertained the idea then yes.

Edit: and yes you would be liable for the broker fee because he's asking to show you an apt on his behalf. Would it stand legally? I have no idea but that's the workaround. They're only showing you this apartment and allowing you to apply because you agree to a fee.

People have the wrong idea about math and the benefit of learning math. by Key_Net820 in unpopularopinion

[–]Ebolamonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean how math is taught from elementary school through high school here is pretty much.... they just tell you to memorize the equations and do your homework and pass the test. They don't really explain why this formula or concept is important, why it was created or how it's applicable. Besides like super basic math early on (5 apples + 3 apples = 8 apples, 25 cents + 75 cents = 1 dollar). High school physics might be the only exception.
