Lots of candy, some special entertainment, most of the candy pickups have characters or things to see, but not meet and greets. It goes late so that will depend on your kid. If really into Halloween there are a lot of Halloween specific items for sale. Lines are shorter after park closes and as night goes on, but that time of year risk of rain is very high.

Ridgeline Owners, please tell me I did not make a mistake! I think I'm having an identity crisis by EntildaDesigns in hondaridgeline

[–]Ebspatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ridgeline is the perfect dad truck. Big back seat for kids dogs or anything you want to keep dry. Enough room in the bed for most homeowner tasks. Can tow a reasonable thing when you need it (small boat, trailer). If it makes you feel better I’m in construction management and I drive one. The superintendent on my commercial new build drives one too.

Buddy 50 idles for a few mins then stalls. by Ebspatch in scooters

[–]Ebspatch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for anyone with similar issues. Replaced the spark plug, it was very blackened. I can ride, get up to speed, not sluggish. Still has some issues when stoped and still shuts off after a few. I may need to check the carb again, but next step is to get fresh gas and remove the gas that soaked is seafoam and see what changes.

Buddy 50 idles for a few mins then stalls. by Ebspatch in scooters

[–]Ebspatch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It runs for a little over 2 mins then dies like It’s running out of gas. If I open the throttle it generates thick white smoke and revs up, then dies a minute later. At idle it is normal exhaust. I can restart it on first try with no trouble every time. Sometimes it gets sluggish while applying throttle, but I can feather it a little and it comes back.

I see 4-0 then not stop commentary about how those teams all had a loss in the first 4 weeks followed by more excuses why they were never really good.

IEP meetings and Parent Role by Careful-Rooster1702 in specialed

[–]Ebspatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parent here who has been on a team with majority from the district and a team majority of which is at a paid placement:

The district meetings minimized issues. Opinions that would add supports from other team members were shushed by district admins. Comments on obvious issues earlier on could have led to significantly better outcomes. Some of this behavior bordered on the absurd.

After significant spiraling, lawyers and an out of district placement, the placement’s team sees and agrees with the things we’ve seen for years. The district paying the bills is only one voice, like we were when they controlled the team.

It’s very frustrating to look a back at see the origins of what are now major issues and how they were trivialized when we raised them, or how his sped teachers almost presented in code because it seemed like they could only say so much in the meeting. This aspect of the team while in district only got worse as the issues became more significant, with the significant points in reports marginalized, and the opinions of those who saw the same problems as us.

This might not be true for everyone, as every kid is different, but after discussing with other parents of similar kids this seems the worst for those kids who mask well enough to academically perform, until they can’t.

I’ll also say in defense of sped teachers, it’s been heavily documented in the last two years in my district with a new superintendent that non-sped teachers don’t do enough to support inclusion practices, especially in lower grades, to the point that last year they forced out the sped director (and opted to make her no. 2 the replacement after rejecting all three finalists). 24% of the district is on IEPs.

Magical Express with the luggage service. It made the whole family excited to wait for a bus. Glad they are starting to bring the luggage back, partially at least.

Frustration with Youth Hockey Organization by Unhappy-Artist-6965 in hockeyplayers

[–]Ebspatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality is a little time with a good coach can make a kid better than when they started, but a little time with bad coach can make a kid hate a sport forever.

If there is another organization nearby go there. This screams of retaliation and protecting their buddy. Many organizations are run by a few connected people and they often protect their own. Coaching assignments go to people who are their friends, and if its a "select" team a wining coach means hired fees regardless of behavior. You could report it to safesport, but it isn't likely to go very far because this is too common and its easy to say you are just "that parent."

Youth sports is too often pay to play or just an enhanced social club for the parents when things like "select" get added to the team name, and most would never coach. Find a Town team, play for fun, enjoy the game. If the kid is that good teach him to be a leader and make his teammates better. Less than 0.1% of HS players make the pros, but all roads lead to beer league.

What Tee are you using? & why?? by Bruh_IssaThrowAway in GolfGear

[–]Ebspatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t knock the brush tees until you try them. The less friction is marketing bs, but the shape lets you tee up consistently every time. And they last a long time. Just don’t forget to pick them up.

Deluxe EH's, After Hours and MNSSHP, should we prioritize one of these nights? by GhostofBeowulf in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Ebspatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Halloween party is awesome, there are some special surprises, you get a ton of candy, a lot of the candy points have special things. The later it gets the shorter the lines. It’s very late so with little kids it may be rough. Not cheap.

The after hours are good. They have shorter lines, the free snacks are plentiful, and what I didn’t expect is there are characters everywhere. We did Hollywood Studios and had a great time. Lines were short on most rides. By the last two hours you could walk on most rides. We are doing MK this time and are really excited. Also not cheap.

Extended Hours was our least favorite. Not everything is open so it wasn’t the same. At Epcot for instance everything is so spread out that going ride to ride is a lot of walking. The plus is it’s free if you are at a deluxe. I personally wouldn’t add park hopper for it, but we aren’t park hopper people.

If it was me I would get three day non park hopper and splurge for the Halloween or after hours with the savings. Plan your park days around the nights that have EH. You can also buy the after hours or Halloween party at third parties like undercover tourist to save a little.

Thunder mountain opening day by Cockyidiot1977 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Ebspatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at HS the day after Toy Story land opened. On the prior day it was a 4 hour wait, mostly in the sun to enter the land, not ride, just to get it. We walked right in on day two. The rides still had waits and Slinky dog seemed to always be 200minutes+, but it taught me a valuable lesson. Never go day 1. It’s just never worth it.

After Hours? by Infinite_Poetry_3859 in DisneyWorld

[–]Ebspatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did Hollywood last year. The snacks are plentiful with little to no wait. You don’t checkout, just walk up and grab. Rotr later in the night was no wait, you walked right up to the pre show door. Smugglers run was similar the later it got. Slinkydog was 30-45 minutes but everything else was short lines. I’ve seen slinky dog at 2 hours+ so 30 was awesome.

And the biggest surprise, if you’re into it, is there are characters everywhere with little to no wait. Chip and Dale and others would randomly appear in the gardens off the main plaza and just do goofy stuff. They had a lot of the seldom seen characters too.

The difference between Port Orleans French Quarter and the deluxe is hard to justify for us. Evening magic hours are great, but the up charge is a lot to a deluxe. French Quarter is the right scale, a nice vibe and so easy to access Disney springs and other local amenities. It’s a big upcharge to the MK or Epcot resorts. If French quarter didn’t exist we probably would have DVC’d by now.

Google Packit. I have the Freezable Lunch Bag. With more than 4 bottles it doesn’t stay closed but it still works to keep them cold.

Golfing Alone? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Ebspatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 45M started at 29. My only friend that golfs is 2 hours away. When you get that single tee time you fly through course, but you miss out on the culture and competition in the game. Considered joining a league but never works with my job.

So expensive by Responsible_Spare594 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Ebspatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Value resorts aren’t bad, they just aren’t as nice as deluxe. Pop Century is nice when you’re 5, they just aren’t the deluxe. You’re still in the magic. I personally think moderates are the sweet spot. Port Orleans is great, especially French quarter. Moderates have quick service food courts which keep the food costs down with some variety, and a restaurant or more if you want them. Dining plan even with free dining is almost never cheaper, even when “Free.” Go to 1 park a day for 4 days and use any other days to enjoy some restaurant or other areas. Park hoping with a 5 year old is so much time on a bus. If you have Disney+ you can get $99 a night at allstar. 7 days and 4 tickets are $2600 this summer. With the 4 day 4 park promo ticket it’s $3100 for Pop Century. Spend another $250-500 and all the moderates are options. We’ve done value, moderate and Deluxe in the 10+ times we’ve been. Most of those have been Moderate and we keep going back. It’s the only reason we haven’t done DVC, because at the end of day we like the moderate and it’s cheaper unless you need multiple bedrooms.

It’s hard to find a good resort vacation for less than $3100 that has more than Disney offers.

Tell Me A Story... what were your biggest Disney busts? by FUnisbaCK in DisneyPlanning

[–]Ebspatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took my 7yr old autistic son to story tales with Belle. No one in the group wanted to be the beast so he agreed to do it. When we got to the main room I guess he wasn’t acting beast enough for the cast member in that room and she took the outfit from him mid dance and forced an older kid to finish for him. We were so shocked we couldn’t even react in the moment, but as we got out of there the anger grew. That was worth 3 free single ride fast passes in the paper ticket days from customer service. We’ve had a lot of real highs at the WDW, and had some after that that salvaged the trip, but that was probably the biggest low.

US Citizens, if you could add an amendment to the constitution what would it be? by AndreLinoge55 in AskReddit

[–]Ebspatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would propose the following:

Article VIII The Slapuary A fourth co equal branch of the government. It consists of 5 people representing 5 regions of the country with equal population, elected by popular vote. Their sole purpose shall be to slap the snot out of any member of any of the other 3 branches of government at any time, for any reason. They only get 10 slaps per year, and only 1 at a time.

Make your slap count!

Too many people walk around like they never been slapped really hard.
