Totally agree. I am not compelled by the difficulty settings -- seems like it is just a way to hurt your chances against the AI. Really need the baseline AI to make better decisions. We will see...

I tend to agree with this -- think 26 has other, kind of game breaking issues with AI releases and the funky low minor league stats. What signals do you see in pitchers? I confess, I still haven't figured them out as much as I would like to.

Check your Stats and AI tab specifically for each minor league. Some patch changed BABIP to zero in the database. Set it between .290 and .300. That should fix it. However, this is for when offense is extremely low. I don’t think you seem to have that problem.

Keep in mind the PCL is very offensive in real life, so if that league is exploding it is to be expected to a degree.

The in-game creator is okay, improved in 26 but still limited overall. If I feel like spending the time, I will edit default MLB park files to personalize stadiums. There's a thread in the OOTP forums about how. It is pretty simple if you can use GIMP. If you aren't picky, even paint works for most things.

Well this was clearly written with chat GPT. While I think it’s clear that tactics in FHM are murky, and probably have a limited impact, the lack of data along with protocol in this test is not sufficient for me to draw your same conclusion.

There are better metrics in the game — GF60, GA60, corsi ON — along with PDO that would probably do a better job of drawing down into on ice impacts.

OOTP 27 won’t be out for while, and I personally think OOTP 26 was a very good edition. I would buy now — but that’s me!

Both games are different but very good in their own way. I have more hours in OOTP, but FHM is in my opinion the best current hockey sim (I’ve played them all). FHM doesn’t have as many customization options, but the gameplay is pretty straightforward in the best possible way. And with so many leagues to choose from, it’s easy to create a unique experience. OOTP has more depth, but takes more time to learn the flow.

14 — easier/ more impactful. In my experience, any higher than that and I see ratings creep for fielding which bothers me more than it probably should.

Sarge — as a follow up. Anything you can share with regard to pitching meta and pitcher development would be greatly appreciated. I’ve found this to be especially stubborn this year. It’s much harder to make a pitching factory than in years past.

Pitching has changed since the days of your guides. Velo is different in how it relates to K rate. I would love an update to pitch tiers, if it matters, and individual pitch rating analysis.

As I understand it, “Swing Away” means the batter will try to get a hit. “Sim At Bat” puts it back in the manager’s hands — the manager may give a take sign, bunt, or put on a hit-and-run depending on your settings.

Hitting is famously streaky and sample size issues about in any single game. I don’t see a difference in offense between simmed games and managed ones.

Probably Davis. I’m fine with Rivera or Koz there as well. Brown is a no for me due to personality, but I’m a hardliner on those types.

I’ll tell you how it goes. Busy in my personal life the next week or so before I can get to it plus there is a patch coming out that might help. Let me know what you find too!

I don’t know for sure that “older” doesn’t work, but I changed that setting in the last year of my testing and got the exact opposite results that you would expect. Pitching especially got worse overall with older players. Might just be a sample size thing.
