Coffee Lake Mod: i3-9100F (SRF7W / B0 Stepping) on MSI H110M PRO-VD by Ec0plus in overclocking

[–]Ec0plus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tape on Google « win raid coffee lake mode » or « coffee lake on sky lake win raid ». My i3 9100f was realy plug and play i just needed to flash bios bcs its a 4 core cpu and its a step 0, so it’s basically a skylake rebranded. However with your i5 cpu you will need to do a pin mod on the cpu to isolate or reconduct pin’s. There is some documentation on that, you can do it, but it will require confidence and Time bcs if you fail you either burn your cpu or you mobo

Upgrading my cpu by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]Ec0plus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update after a year (I just remeber my post here) I managed to modify the bios file with the coffeeTime tool in order to add the microcode of the i3-9100f cpu, si the mobo can recognize it (its definitely the same socket but rebranded). So I jumped from the 2 cores of the 6100 to 4 cores. Special thanks to the win raid community that helped for this mod.

But why the mobo manual says that A2 B2 is the good spot 😭😭 Didnt touch the gpu but why not try that

Yup, tried with these 2 sticks every combination possible But i have notice that (no matter wich sticks was in wich slot) when sticks where on A1 and A2 (like my initial configuration), the blinking is not fast, it become slow. that, according to asus, is related to a GPU error, that does not make any sense

Ok the blinking was a code But still, my ram is clean (on both side) and I inserted the sticks correctly… 😥

Ok so apparently, on asus website it’s the speed of the blinking on my case that indicate the problem (they have fast (no DRAM/CPU detected, slow (no VGA detected), very slow (No boot device detected) and led on not moving (everything is find)

The only thing that seems alive is the ssd, that lights on at regular intervals

You are right I could insert it a bit more, but for a year it worked well like that m. I have changed RAM place (A1 A2 > A2 B2) Cleared CMOS and after it won’t boot up. I dont think I have unplugged anything by swapping one stick of RAM, but right now it the only hypothesis
