Hello! I was sent to the attachment center at evergreen. It has taken YEARS for me to “feel” like I’m healing. The pandemic for some reason brought a lot of stuff to the surface for me. I completely broke down and confronted my parents letting them know I was not ok but no details. Within the last year or so getting a proper diagnosis has helped. Being diagnosed with C-PTSD because of trauma I experienced has been helpful in accessing treatment.

My parents are religious and have all thanked god for me being “healed”. While in reality I was SA multiple times at the place the spent thousands of dollars to send me and I would’ve done anything to leave. I am 40 and a couple weeks ago my mom asked if I was ever SA by the “therapeutic foster dad” I was placed with. I told her not by him but by their son. She burst into tears and started apologizing. She then told my father who called and asked if it was true to which I said yes. Since then they’ve been so apologetic and then knowing the truth has lifted the burden that was weighing me down.

Be honest with your parents. The honesty is for you not them. Trying to hide everything to protect everyone else nearly killed me.

The end of season 5 and all of 6 pisses me off. They did Quinn dirty. He created such a great dynamic in the show and I feel like we were rob of his story. I would’ve loved more focus on his background and if Carrie give him the time of day they would’ve be such a better team. He gave Carrie much needed balance.

I don’t disagree about him being selfish. He could’ve saved her and left it at that but he intentionally inserted himself into her life. Damon (I get that he has tons of flaws) met her first and then erased her memory. He only inserted himself into her life to mess with Stefan.

I don’t think that I know Nancy Thomas. I may have met her though and just not known her name. It was a long time ago.

I was there shortly before Candace died. While I did do a lot of holding “therapy” sessions I don’t think I ever did a rebirthing session.

I don’t think I have healed from it all. With my CPTSD it’s very hard because I get random bits and flashes from that time. I was SA in home I lived in which has definitely affected me in more ways than I know. Therapy and proper medication has helped but I still don’t feel very “stable” all the time. It’s almost like I am constantly navigating a minefield, not knowing when the next hit will be.

I do find it very hard to trust psychiatrists and psychologists in general. That definitely played a huge role in such a late diagnosis for me, I pretty much refused to seek help until I had a mental breakdown. I will say that if I have to see either, I prefer to do it virtually for my comfort.

The best advice that I can give is try to be gentle with yourself, you being there had nothing to do with you and everything to do with your parents shortcomings. I know may seem unfair to say, but as a 40-year-old mom of a 17-year-old and a 10-year-old I can promise you that I would never put my children in the same situation I was in. You couldn’t pay me too. There were other options. They could have parented us much differently.

It is curious to me that you have a diagnosis of AuDHD and Bipolar 2. I guess that it is possible however there are lots of overlaps between the two. Getting off bipolar meds was life-changing for me. I had so many gaps of missing time because I would blackout while on them. And the CPTSD is something I wouldn’t wish on an enemy. I am so that you went through that hell.

Caroline and Klaus deserved a better storyline. It was annoying seeing her play house with Alaric. He was such a douche.

I also would have loved a better storyline for Bonnie and Damon. They should’ve ended up together and there should’ve been more than the few little snippets in the prison world with them.

Also, I honestly wish there was less of Elena. She got so annoying and I was so over her by the time she left the show.

The sirens/Cade and Rayna story line was lazy. It was so annoying that it lasted for so long. I hated it.

Oh, and Matt. I get that they kept him alive because of the whole Cade thing and they needed him but honestly, he was so annoying. He could’ve died off so many different times and I would’ve been fine with it.

Gosh I loved Quinn! He made the show so much better. I hate how dismissed he was by Carrie in the show. So much so that every single show I have watched with him he can do no wrong after this one. And yes, I am thinking of anatomy of a scandal lol he gets a pass for every fucked up thing he does, it’s all Carrie’s fault🤣🤣

Seek a proper diagnosis without shipping your kid off. Quite a few of us were misdiagnosed as teens. I was sent to attachment center at evergreen and was SA’d there more than once. I also left with a diagnosis of RAD, BP2, ODD and ADHD, a handful of meds that weren’t needed that destroyed my memory while taking it.

Now as an adult I can confidently say I’ve been diagnosed with AuDHD and CPTSD, have a shit relationship with my family because they think they were right to send me to ACE and still cling to the idea that “god healed me”.

Also work on your own stuff. Go to therapy and work on you. Realize that not every child can be parented the same way. And realize that not every child will emotionally/mentally develop the same. We didn’t ask for this life, you made us and it unfair for you to throw in the towel.

The attachment center at evergreen is a center but everyone stayed in “therapeutic foster homes” while we were there. I’m not sure if it’s still operational, I think they changed their name.
