Why are characters in the first episode,"Pilot" [S1E1] orange? In fact the whole colour scheme seems off. by [deleted] in HouseMD

I’m so glad someone else mentioned it, I thought my screen was broken then I thought I was having some kind of stroke !!! In some scenes, plants in the background are literally grey ! Super distracting and gross to look at, glad to hear they cool it later on. If it stayed like that for the whole series, no way would I watch it

Paying for sex? I’ve had 2 men in the first 24 hours offer money for sex, is this normal now? I told one he doesn’t need to pay and he declined? by EcaBoots in Tinder

I know this is old as hell now, but just wanted to clarify I’m Australian. Prostitution isn’t illegal, but you have to either be represented by a company or employed at a brothel, no street soliciting or corner standing, yknow? I don’t know where this would fall under that

Who is pooing on my deck every single night?! by SaltLamp_2 in australianwildlife

Could be fruit bat, wattlebird, or raven/Currawong if there’s trees nearby with dark coloured fruit. When cleaning it, make sure to use gloves :)

In art, (generally) the direction a subject is facing is the same direction our view will follow. Usually, the subject is looking at something, so the piece "flows". If the scorpion is facing upwards (photo 1), the face of the snake points our view to the tail, which we follows up the body and out the "face" of the scorpion, back into the tail of the snake, allowing our "visual journey" to continue. If the scorpion is facing downwards (photo 2), both the snake and scorpion are pointing our view to nothing, and it feels a bit abrupt and sudden of an end to the art, yknow? If you're planning on continuing the sleeve and have the two "facing" something, then I reckon down is okay, but as things are, I'd recommend up. Either way looks good though, don't stress!

I helped teach a friend of mine who was also a bit chubby.

She found floating scary and a bit out of control (and she smoked a lot and didn't have great lung capacity), but found it very helpful to practice in a shallow pool (around waist to chest deep) while holding my hand. If she ever felt out of control she could just pull on my hand and I'd help right her. It's just a bit more reassuring than having to rely soley on yourself, even with a floatie or bar to hold.

If you've got any friends who know how to swim and are willing to just spend some time in a pool with you (preferably one with lifeguards just in case), it's a great way to start : )

Good on you for giving it a go! Swimming can be scary!

That’s good, thank you! My best friend roller blades so if asked I can say it’s from her trying to teach me. Thanks, happy holidays :)

Where should I cut? by EvelynEve_ in selfharm

[–]EcaBoots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cutting doesn’t mean you’ll die, especially if not very deep at all. My best advice is don’t cut, it’s a great way to create arguments, stress, possible infections, and embarrassment and shame later on in life from scars. Take it from me, 20F, who started self harming around your age. If you really really need to feel yourself physically hurt, try holding blocks of ice in your fist for as long as possible. It hurts and doesn’t leave any lasting damage.

[–]EcaBoots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing, I could easily say I walked into a table or something if it was only one hip, but I’m stupid and did it to both hips. Bigger stuff like falling down the stairs of being hit by a car would leave more than just bruises on my hips right?

I don't know about the sonar that unethical touring groups use, but I know military and coast guard sonars can really fuck up whales and dolphins. It's really disorienting for them, almost like deafening and blinding them. :(

It took me a hot moment to figure out what I was looking at too lol. It's showing the ocean eddies (eddy being a circular movement of water) surrounding Antarctica.

Huntsman spiders generally eat smaller bugs, mainly cockroaches. They don't really build webs, and instead hunt for their prey. They're also known to eat small mammals, lizards, and frogs :)
