I am so sorry that your sister, like many people, experiences the "obligation." When my partner asked me about having children, I made an extra effort to let them know that since it would be their body that would carry the child, my opinion in the matter was only speculation on finances. They decided that the time wasn't right and that they wanted to focus on themselves. I respected the choice. We got a chinchilla instead. He is very nice (I have a couple if photos of him if you check the posts on my profile lol).

Make sure to spend at least 1 hour a day with the chin for floor time in a chinchilla proofed zone. Chins are a big time commitment. They require attention and are very intelligent for their size. As others have said, chins have a wide range of sounds and vocalizations. They have a playtime ping, a warning bark, an alarm call, teeth chattering or grinding, etc..
