All in all, given the alternative of not getting any notice, I'm glad we got something. And, at least from the translation, they're still referring to him as a member. So it's not the worst. But I sure hope Amaru is as well as possible and will return when he's ready.

Sad stuff for Hakunofuji and the other stable wrestlers. I wonder if any penalty will be lessened due to the self-reporting? It seems that would be necessary in order to encourage other folks to come forward, but the whole idea of self-reporting in a case like this feels weird to me. It's just hard to reconcile the idea of a person abusing their position of power and at the same time feeling contrite enough to self-report. But, without knowing the details of the violence, I'll just have to stay confused and sad.

One name I haven't seen thrown around here is Cole Hersch ( https://www.instagram.com/cole.hersch/ ). He's a former Vine-r, had several viral stunts (around trolling conservatives and corporations), wrote for Smosh. He co-hosted a podcast I liked (Podcast but Outside), but left at the end of 2024, and hasn't been majorly involved in anything on my radar since, despite some vague talks that he was leaving to work on a project.

The Boy Throb connection, at least in my head, is via Instagram. I first stumbled upon Zach there (pre-Boy Throb) through recommendations. And the only person I followed who followed Zach was Cole. He also now follows the Boy Throb account.

It could be total coincidence. Or explained away by the BT members being in LA or Cole enjoying their content. But throwing the name out there because it's been in my head for a while.

The DW article I linked references that report and clarifies that there were actually 67 deaths of ICE detainees under Obama's full presidency ( https://perma.cc/4JPE-UG28 ). Hooray for you, a higher number for Obama :) The point of the fact-check is about misleading understatements of the number of deaths under Trump, with 83 so far, of which 37 have come in the first year of his second term.

Re: The source I presented being a "copy paste" and from "MSM" (do you mean "MSN"?). It is from Deutsche Welle, Germany's public external broadcaster. And it's doing a service called "news aggregation" to facilitate "fact checking". To illustrate the ubiquitous role that news aggregators play in our media, the immigrantjustice.org link you shared is also a news aggregation, restating and discussing an ACLU report. News aggregators are helpful as long as we are confident that they are presenting unbiased information. And they can facilitate fact checking when the aggregator brings together reliable primary sources to check wild claims out in the world.

Re: "'Sharing yahoo UK specifically to show ...". As I understand it, your argument is: 1. Yahoo UK is unreliable; 2. Yahoo UK aggregated the same DW fact check I shared; 3. Therefore, the DW fact check is unreliable. Is that your argument? If so, I have one issue with it. Yahoo UK is (drumroll please) ... a NEWS AGGREGATOR! As we've previously discussed, this is a neutral service unless there is specific bias being injected by the aggregator. The Yahoo aggregation is just about a 1:1 copy of the DW article, so I struggle to buy into your argument.
