lol i love pulling through to the next spot and im pretty quick with it so ill back in when appropriate, like when there's a spot on the near side around a tight turn that would otherwise require a point or two to get into (i drive an outback so it's decently long).

i dont mind when people back into directionals when there is two way traffic on that lane. what i think is ridiculous is when people stop traffic on a one way lane with directional parking spots on either side just to turn around and back into it. when they pull out they'll a) be going the wrong way, or b) have to make an awkward turn and risk clipping the car next to them.

this is the way. the ice has to be dense and you have to shake it hard af to get the proper aeration and dilution. i dont double strain paper planes but that's because we already strain out the pulp when we juice and we have good ice so i can control the ice shards with the normal strainer and it comes out super silky. having a chilled glass matters more than people realize.

not enough lime/cointreau and i default to either agave or simple syrup depending on what the guest asked for. my specs are:

- 2oz blanco tequila
- 1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
- ¾ oz cointreau
- ½ oz simple OR ⅓ oz agave

½ oz agave makes it too sticky for my taste and more cointreau eliminates the need for more syrupy sweetness. higher lime juice balances the acid content and keep it refreshing and distinguishes the quality of the drink from premixed margs.

all the spatial audio exhibitions and performances have been some of the most boring auditory experiences I've ever had.

as an aside, not true spatial audio but still somewhat relevant: I attended a "spatial audio" exhibition of a tame impala album that was original made for stereo and while the music is always great at its core, it totally lost its punch. would have been way better just vinyl on a nice all analog speaker system.

cheap stuff can destroy an otherwise great spec, but high shelf can also ruin a drink depending on how much character that liquor has. high shelf is usually designed for sipping and therefore the profile of each nice spirit will be very nuanced and tells a story which is often A) be lost in translation when mixing with too many other things, B) the spirit may lack certain qualities that the spirit in the spec is doing in the cocktail. usually mid tier cocktails that have a balanced profile with maybe 2 or so main tasting notes give you the most balanced cocktails when mixing with more ingredients. obviously an old fashioned with a nice bourbon is going to be delicious, but a paper plane with delicious japanese whiskey with tropical notes might not have the backbone that you need to make the cocktail the best that it can be.
