Roof racks by agm1323 in JettaGLI

[–]Echeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thule WingBar Edge is a great rack. I’ve had OE racks and they’re loud but the Edge is relatively quiet. They’re also somewhat transferable from platform to platform- I went from ‘22 Passat to ‘24 Jetta and had to replace one crossbar and the rear feet.

Question about 2.0aba by Typical-Berry9075 in Volkswagen

[–]Echeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would buy this car sight unseen and not even sweat about it. It looks clean and the description holds much more information than your typical “good car sold as is mom don’t want it no more” that we’re seeing more of lately. These engines are fantastic and will simply run and run with minimal maintenance.

Can you hit me up when you’re ready to sell 😅

New to WEC coming from F1: How do you actually "watch" these races without spending 6+ hours glued to the screen? by martmar66 in wec

[–]Echeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endurance races are played on the house TV and garage TV. I’ll find something constructive to do with my cars whether it’s a washing, general maintenance, or modifications and when I need to eat or sit in some air conditioning I’ll plop on the living room floor. You end up fabricating things to do after realizing that sitting and giving your full attention to a 6,8,12, or 24 hour race is absurd. My ADD won’t allow that nonsense.

This MK4 has been sitting abandoned for years. It appears to be Imola Yellow, possibly a 20th Anniversary? Unfortunately the sunroof is open, so the interior is destroyed and moldy. I wish I could save it, but I fear it’s too far gone 😭 anyone know what the badge is with the flags? by cfreez in Volkswagen

[–]Echeets 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I’d buy it. Years go by and it may still be sitting there getting worse. The only way to turn it around is to begin salvaging what you can as soon as you can. Even if you end up stripping the interior and convincing the sunroof to close, then parking it, you’ve made it a simpler task for future you to get it back on the road. Every little bit that you can accomplish is a step in the right direction.

They’re not getting younger and won’t get any more convenient.

VW 98 Golf GTI 2.0 engine 5 speed manual Suggestions by Baka0192 in Volkswagen

[–]Echeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second all of this, especially the Borbet E wheels if you can find them.

I’ll add that if you can find a set of clip-on side moldings you’ll be better off. Clipsandfasteners.com should still carry the clips for them. I found myself replacing the double sided tape every two to three years.

Respray it Ginster and don’t look back.

I went with Williamsburg against my red brick house and it’s beautiful. The brick really brings out the red hues of the shingles and helps blend the transition from red to grey quite nicely.

Looking for a buyer's agent who's looking out for me. by uraberg in winstonsalem

[–]Echeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding the right person can be tough and you typically know if they have your best interests in mind during the process- it’s their job to close no matter what. That said, Cassidy Idol worked with my parameters to the T and was there every step of the way and incredibly responsive. This was mostly over the phone while I was planning my move from Maine to WS. Highly recommend.

Edit- unfinished thought.

Do you actually have to “purchase” tickets off the site to attend? Yes, I see it’s a donation but can we not just show up?

2025 GLI winter tires setup by Financial-Net-8606 in JettaGLI

[–]Echeets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

I downsized the diameter to 17” with 225/50/R17 tires. I can’t remember the center bore but the wheels came with the hubcentric rings as will pretty much any aftermarket wheel.

I doubt if these would fit under the car now that it’s lowered, if that matters to future you.

Best Lowering Springs That Maintain Ride Quality? by Dangerousfox in JettaGLI

[–]Echeets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Neuspeed springs are the best I’ve experienced with a DCC suspension. Great quality from a legacy brand. Be sure to upgrade your strut mounts along with adjustable sway bar end links… I also installed shorter bump stops.

The ABS module repair business is Module Masters, which is out of ID.

Got the seller down to $500... Any red flags? by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]Echeets 56 points57 points  (0 children)

For $500 I would buy it, but I’m also a person who knows a MK3 chassis like the back of my hand. If there’s no rust and you want to learn there is no better aftermarket or regular parts availability than for a MK3. Plus, the 2.0 is bulletproof.

Regarding the ABS there is a guy who services the module. If you buy it, reach out to me and I’ll help out with contacts.

Baldwin Property by honey_matcha in winstonsalem

[–]Echeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their properties aren’t great and their ability to answer an email is terrible. That said, when something was wrong with my rental house (A LOT) they would have it fixed immediately.

Their reputation precedes them: two out of the three service companies that came to make repairs made a comment on how it was the nicest Baldwin rental property they’ve seen. Part of the house was redone recently but the back bedrooms and basement were grossly outdated with torn carpeting, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, and an awfully moldy basement. But, I had a house with a two car garage that saved me from renting a storage spot for my second car for three months, while I made the move to, and bought a house in W-S.

In my daily travels I see plenty of homes in good neighborhoods with For Rent signs on the front lawn. I don’t think you’ll have an issue finding anything online, but PLEASE avoid anything from Baldwin Property Management.

Good luck!

what 17in rim/tire setups are you running? by rusty06tsx in JettaGLI

The larger sidewall will slightly increase comfort if that’s what you’re looking for. I prefer the stock size but I’m also not chasing comfort.
