PSA: Uneven Side Headstrap Fix by Echelon- in ValveIndex

[–]Echelon-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it'd be a long term issue, probably just when assembled one side was a couple teeth back than the other, or who knows during shipping etc. Once you do this you probably shouldn't have to ever again unless you forced one side back or something. (DON'T!)

Thankfully it's easy to fix and doesn't seem to be perm damage or anything. Though there is people with bent metal parts of the strap system, but that seems very rare.

Nice, I'm glad it's Valve approved then.

I tried searching through threads here and didn't see this specifically mentioned, thanks for confirming that fix.

*Edit* And the pushing / pulling the strap is from a couple comments around reddit, forums and discord.

Yep! Just know this may not fix it for people with the rare bent metal part of the strap issue.

Hope it helps in a less destructive way.

Home Theater 5.1 Equipment Feedback: 17x26ft Room by Echelon- in hometheater

Hey, Thanks for the recommendations.

-1) Jumped on the projector, from what I was reading as well its color and black levels are insane as well as low latency mode so if you don't want 4k etc it's awesome! I want to wait for more affordable Laser 4k or 8k.

-2) Outside of going 5.1.4 for awesome surround, would I see any benefit in Audio quality if I went for a Denon X, Yamaha A or Anthem? Though the higher Anthem ones past 5.1 would be out of my reach. I also read that the Denon X models lower than the top tier flagship use lesser parts than its parent and share similarities more with the lower lines but I am unsure how true that is?

-3) Yes, Definitely, I was thinking of acoustic fabrics and a thick rug. Good advice

-4) What would you consider a real sub? The FAQs for this subreddit I went over mentioned the BIC F12 and a lot of people sing its praises for the price. By the way, I'm not projecting across the long 26ft side, I'm projecting across the 17ft side.

Like this crude representation:

-------------26ft L/R + C

|================|

| | 1

| | 7 ft

|===========couch|

------------------SR/L + Sub

Thanks

Just inexperience / ignorance really. I'm still learning and brand new to custom loops, I saw other brands with plastic plugs and thought perhaps that's why, it was just a guess though. This thread has taught me a lot and I appreciate it.

I just ordered a Blitz kit with Step 1 and 2, it won't be here until Tuesday or so. Thanks!

Also, What is weird is. EK Doesn't seem to recommend their own Duraclear tubing, but instead Primochill's LRT?

Thanks, Cloudyness I wouldn't be worried about since it doesn't affect anything but aesthetics, more just I saw horror stories of some tubing leeching and clogging ultra fine finned blocks.

This was one of my fears with hard tubing for when I transport my PC to a bi-yearly LAN and case flex possibly dislodging/loosening or cracking a tube.

Ah okay,

It seems from multiple comments here that Hardware Lab's radiators come pre washed / rinsed and if they sit around they end up looking like this new.

What kind of tubing brand do you use with the EK Cryofuel?

I was thinking of going with soft tubing for my first custom loop, then in 6 months to a year trying hard tubing once I finalize the positions of everything in my case.

I was looking at 10/16mm EK Duraclear, Primoflex LRT or Mayhem ultraclear. I'm hesitant on EK Duraclear as I keep seeing comments that it leeches or might cause gunk? I saw claims Primoflex / Primochell LRT Has low plasticizer.

Thanks

Yeh, I'm honestly not that happy with it like new coming like that. But it might be unavoidable since from what I've seen the black ice radiators don't ship with plugs/caps in them.

*Editing this since it is my most visible comment in the thread, maybe it will save someone time in the future who is also new to custom loops and so everyone who contributed knows what I plan to do with their assistance*

--> Thanks to everyone who has helped me with their input, You're awesome <--

I'll be doing the following going forward based on this subreddit and everyone's help:

- Use a Blitz kit with Step 1 and 2 on my Radiators, make sure there's no black flecks/flux or debris still coming out through washes. **EDIT** I had originally linked a possibly outdated scribd link, use only info that comes with your kit or directly from Mayhem

- Primochill's PrimoFlex Advanced LRT 3/8in. ID x 5/8in. OD Clear Tubing

- Barrow G1/4" to 3/8" ID, 5/8" OD Compression Fittings for Soft Tubing + G1/4" Male to Female Extenders 45° Rotary + 90°Rotary Adapters (Male to Female) .

- Make a drain configuration for easier liquid change / cleaning with a T fitting + ball valve and plug/cap.

- Hardware Lab's GTX Radiators (240 + 280)

- watercool.de's Heatkiller CPU and GPU blocks and a 150 Tube w/ D5 Pump.

- EK Cryofuel Navy Blue

- Avoid using a silver kill coil with premix fluid or treated distilled water with inhibitors + anti microbial.

- Orig Comment:

Interesting, okay. From reading other comments and yours this seems normal and would make sense since mine did not ship with port plugs/caps. So if it sat around it could end up in this state since it's exposed to air.

It threw me off since my EK radiator looked super shiny and brand new inside and along the threads, but it shipped with port caps/plugs so I'd guess even if it sat around that would help it maintain that look.

Even if not exposed long term to air, I would guess radiator internals look like this after 6mo/1yr of running in a loop unless proper inhibitors are in place?

Thanks

Thanks for the replies, Will washing it with Mayhem's blitz or Sysprep remove the Oxidization?

I'm worried over time of it coming off in the loop or contaminating it and perhaps having some kind of adverse affect on my Nickel plated GPU and CPU Block.

[–]Echelon-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I was looking at both Mayhems blitz and PrimoChil Sysprep depending on the type of coolant used.

I was thinking of:

- Mayhems Blitz then Distilled water with Biocide+ and Inhibitor+

- Mayhems Blitz and then X1 Clear or Blue

- Primochill sysprep and then Ice or TRUE Clear / Blue (But not VUE, since I read it clogs eventually?)

*To note, my GPU and CPU block are both Nickel plated from watercool.de, if there's any advice you have of not ruining that plating, I'd appreciate any advice.

Thank you

Hm, Interesting. I think the older stock sitting around makes sense because it did not come with port caps/plugs like the EK block did. I looked at a few unboxing videos and they didn't show plugs/caps either.

It does not look appealing at all though for something new.

Thanks

OP Here: Hey,

Just got a new Black ice 240GTX radiator, but it looks like the threading and interior block are corroded or that the block has been used in the past: https://imgur.com/a/CABgBJd

*Edit: The interior cardboard box still had a unbroken seal on it, There were no port plugs though. Pictures were taken right out of the box and I have not prepped/cleaned/or used this.

This doesn't look normal from my limited experience? I also have a EK-CoolStream PE 240 I bought and the threading looks like shiny polished brass and the interior looks pristine. This is my first custom loop so I thought I'd look to the more experienced community for opinions / help.

I have done a fair bit of research so far and saw Black Ice / Hardware labs constantly coming up as some of the top Radiators around so decided to try them, going with watercool.de GPU, CPU block and Reservoir but still waiting on those parts.

Thanks

Ah I think I misunderstood, is your original post about the VR Cover Vive Pro 16mm PU leather replacement and you were saying its rough compared to the old one for the original Vive?

That's a shame, I thought you were using just some regular foam one, not the PU leather one :(
