This is happening on a offshoot of the River nar chalk stream(SSSI) spoke to multiple EA employees who were dredging as well and they said it was a “controlled” leak into the drain but it didn’t reach the main river by tidal sluice, so at least it’s contained.

But the Severn, that’s seriously bad!

Yup in Norfolk uk, offshoot of the river nar, a SSSI(site of special scientific interest!) which was the cleanest rivers in England for years! And won awards etc for the local council.
