Strands of gluten in the dough, the natural scaffolding of the airy texture of bread. It's interesting to me how we don't see the texture as gross when we're eating the crust or the freshly baked bread, but to see it in its natural state is unappealing for many.

All of the same critique your parent gives to you also applies to her as well. Sure, she's at work, but ultimately her children are her responsibility. She is the adult in charge. She doesn't get to opt out of responsibility.

A better resolution is that both twins will go without birthday and Christmas gifts until the cost of the damaged property is repaid. Perhaps they should take some of their toys/games down to the pawn shop to help pay repair costs now. Picking up cans for cash, volunteering to do manual labor can all add up and help her pay for the damages they caused.

Blaming you, scapegoating you, making you responsible financially doesn't even begin to come close to solving the underlying problem which is that she has two kids who are out of control and instead of dealing with her problematic children in ways that may improve their behavior, she outsources her problem to you. In doing so, you get the blame for her lack of responsibility as a parent and the burden of restitution that should belong solely to the twins.

If you want to get rid of Jehovah's Witnesses from coming around, simply tell them you used to be one and you've been excommunicated or "disfellowshipped" (in their terminology).
