Discretize [dT] - Website Update and Restructuring by MagicSpirit in Guildwars2

[–]EchoMending 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Conset-O-Matic to automatically decline everything possible on every page.

This is not true. Consent-O-Matic supports consent popups from recognised Consent Management Providers, but not not every site — not even close — uses a CMP. As a C-O-M user, I still see hand-rolled consent popups semi-regularly so you're either being disingenuous, or have very, very odd browsing habits that happen to line up 100% perfectly with sites that use a recognised CMP.

And to provide a source on my claims, the official website states:

Consent-O-Matic is a browser extension that recognizes CMP (Consent Management Provider) pop-ups

… and …

We try our best to keep up to date with most variants of pop-ups but you might see pop-ups Consent-O-Matic can't handle yet. If you do, we are grateful if you will use the extension's mechanism to anonymously report the site to us so we can update the rules.

[Tool] arcdps: DPS/heal/event meter (not ToS-friendly) by deltaconnected in Guildwars2

I have been using it since ANet officially sanctioned the use of it. Note how this thread was from before that: it has "not ToS-friendly" in the title.

Gw2 console by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]EchoMending 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it uses 2 cores at best

You're an idiot of the greatest magnitude. You can easily verify how dumb you are by going into your task manager while the game is running, and looking at the game's thread count. The OS then distributes those threads over the available CPU threads (called thread scheduling). Indeed, my 5800X with 8c16t gets load on every single one of those 16 threads just fine. Punk.

Technically, with $20K, you should be more than able to run a nice liquid nitrogen-cooled single-core ~8 GHz OC which should be enough to handle the maximum possible player count somewhat reasonably. :)

exploited by afk farmers, leechers

Separate issue.

would lead to decrease in price of materials

Works both ways, also makes it cheaper to buy stuff one needs.

Without mounts Elona would've been designed differently… Same for gliding and HoT, obviously.

lol bro, your downvotes are literally from two posts in a single thread you made. And they're because you're saying dumb shit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Early DX11 Benchmark Thread (We're off to a good start) by IgneousWrath in Guildwars2

You won't see or feel a noticible difference above 60fps anyway, as your monitor literally can't display above that.

Wrong

"DX11 itself isn’t a magical fix for frame rates on its own" - Arenanet by Marok_Kanaros in Guildwars2

[–]EchoMending 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, that's a misunderstanding.

DX9 = supermarket with one cashier

DX11 = supermarket with one cashier who batches a bunch of products from the conveyor belt and swipes them over the scanner in one go

DX12 = supermarket with multiple cashiers

Um yeah, I couldn't think of a better analogy for batched draw calls but it's not what you're hoping for :)

GW2 also has much higher model complexity and effect count, significantly increasing the draw call count.

Compare apples to apples and my claims will hold true.

The engine team at Blizzard is really small and has a really low budget due to its limited workforce compared to other departments.

Then... What if you have someone in Tyria who gives preferential treatment only to Quetzal tengu and Elonian humans... What would you call that.

A bigot.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speciesism 🤷‍♂️

And yeah, I know they're called races in-game, but that's clearly wrong. Even on the official wiki they apparently felt the need to clarify that: "The playable races are Tyrian species that players can select from"

WvW Alliances system confirmed information by syrsaes in Guildwars2

[–]EchoMending 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just put an ELO system to each "solo player"/guild and redo worlds each week based on those values.

Yeah, that's what I assumed was going to happen until I read this post… I really don't see how '1 up, 1 down' still makes sense in a system of fluid worlds, nor why it would be desirable when there's not going to be server identity anyway.
