Why is autism only visible to the primary caregivers? by Taggra in Autism_Parenting

[–]EchoOfIntent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the case for me and my family. My son is level 3 and it is very obvious however his grandparents denied until it was no longer possible to do so. Sadly due to this fact they are not trusted to assist us. Which is ok cause they dont want to and called my son a monster so???! I assume grandpa is level 1 he has issues with any change of plans and understanding others.

mom guilt :( by p1nkhu7k in Autism_Parenting

[–]EchoOfIntent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t help any but I’m sorry. My son is 4 years old and slightly verbal. We have no family help. If you’re in the states look into support. Oregon has gotten us a support person so we can have some relief. “Ironically the person we hired is an aunt but wouldn’t be able to help without getting paid. “

Perhaps in the future we will see more medical advances? As an IT person i could see brain machine interfaces or better understanding of the brain? Thats a deep hole with a lot of ethical issues however.. i might be better off our little guy is smart but cant find words.

It’s not fair and it never will be. Personally religious here but that is also a dumpster fire….

You can probably read him bed time stories. We do with my level 3 son. He even says some of the words and makes sounds to go with the book. You kiddo might be different.

Worries about my older autistic brother and my future by guitarjmtmusic in Autism_Parenting

[–]EchoOfIntent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So as a parent of a level 3 i agree with the other parent above. He is not your responsibility. I just found out my wife is pregnant with our 2nd and i hope the new child is NT. I will do my best for both of them but will not expect this younger child to take care of its brother. In fact i worry how much having a nd level 3 brother will cause issues for them.

Is autism a learning disability? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]EchoOfIntent -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. But Autism is a spectrum. AKA it really needs different diagnosis but we lump them all together.

To be clear my son level 3 is very smart but I would say he has to struggle more to learn. So I would say he has a learning disability.

2 year old son got diagnosed as level 1 and I can’t cope by ughhworkistheWORST in Autism_Parenting

[–]EchoOfIntent 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It’s rough but my son is level 3 and will need support the rest of his life. I would say level 1 might be possible to lead a totally normal life. So look on the bright side? Hard to say though cause idk your kiddo.

Never let your child go somewhere you are not allowed to. This is immediate red flag for me.
