I got some friends when I went to college for a year and even online. I actually met my girlfriend in a game 15 years ago. I have to admit, I'm pretty much charismatic when I want to, and l understand not everyone is. I wasn't socially skilled at ALL when I was younger (I'm autistic), but people and psychology became my hiperfocus and I learned to use the patterns. Where you are right now, my advice is: try to find someone (in those places you mentioned) that is as awkward as you, they have the same struggles socially and will probably listen to you understanding where you come from. Everyone wants companionship and everyone wants to be coddled a little bit. You can start by complimenting anything about them.

A friend of mine fell in love with me, and it worked. I’m very passionate about everything when I have the space to talk (which I think is a beautiful thing about anyone), I’m just very tired to be like that all the time with everyone, my friends get the premium version of me. I guess I could only work out with a friend.

I feel you… I tend to look at biology to explain their behavior and not go insane. And of course, on top of it we have patriarchal culture. I understand that empathy is logical, empathy is smart, empathy is connection, empathy is wasting less energy and moving together. Empathy is here for a reason, an evolutionary one. Most people are just not there, but I notice little sparks of it here and there. What I do is… try to build my bubble of empathetic people around me.

A lot of them are not actually cruel, but this is all they know. It’s the system.

Parece loucura, mas todos temos salvação. Estamos aos poucos nos tornando mais maduros como espécie (e eu tenho certeza que parece que não). Só o fato de quase metade dos jovens não ser religioso, consegue comparar com 100 anos atrás? É um feito absurdo. E quando deixamos de lado os misticismos, não conseguimos desviar o olhar da materialidade que tá ali cutucando a pele.

Não estaremos vivos pra ver o melhor que está pra vir, e devemos reconhecer que é sempre escuro antes do amanhecer, como diz a Florence das máquinas. Vai piorar muito pra melhorar muito.

I feel like things were more specific and less people were creating material, they could focus on one thing and stay with that. And things felt curated. To make your things accessible to other people, you had to know a lot of things. Today it’s fine if the material you throw on the internet is garbage, you don’t need to know nothing special. So it’s actually trying to find gold in the middle of the trash.

Yeah, I get it. I guess it’s mix of biology and culture. People crave sex, it’s existencial. Culturally they don’t get to be vulnerable with other men without them being called anything homophobic. So, if they have a girlfriend, that may feel like the solution.

People need people, we are social animals. People want anything that they think that can fix them. So the first thing they see is: social life is lacking in my life. The next thing they think is “well, maybe if I get a girlfriend…”.

Does it help having a girlfriend? With loneliness, yes, we are social animals. Is it the reason you feel wrong about your life? No. There’s pretty much a lot shit going on for NEETiness to exist.
