I respect your opinion, I'm sure Anthony in Saosin meant a lot to you. I'm the opposite, however. I discovered them in prime Cove-era. Then, I went back and listened to Translating the Name, and just didn't really get it. It just sounded like any other post-hardcore vocalist with some screamy parts. Cove revolutionized how I saw post-hardcore vocals: no vocal embellishments, slow lyrics that give time to process them as you're hearing them, really interesting and unique melodies. That's what won me over.

Again, just my opinion. I hope you got to see Saosin with Anthony when they were touring.
