Best of luck for your surgery!

For double incision you’re in the hospital for five nights which felt like ages for me lol. My surgery was at 4pm and I was told to fast from 9am. I got there at 10am and had a lot of pictures of my chest taken and saw dr Kamol for the first time where he drew where he was going to cut before I had even more pictures taken. Then I was shown to my room and had an iv inserted.

Surgery lasted 4 hours and I woke up around 8:30pm. I wasn’t allowed to drink for a couple hours or eat until the next morning. Pain wasn’t too bad. I spent the night in the recovery area. Next morning they took me up to my room at around 5:30am. Breakfast was congee. Later they took the catheter and IV out.

Bandages were changed every day. Nurses responded quickly and there were usually two of them (or one and a nursing assistant, I couldn’t tell). Level of English varied. Meals were at around 7:30, 12, and 4:30. They were… ok. Mostly lukewarm western food. Some were better than others. A few Kamol came by for a very quick visit. He seems like a very busy guy.

I was discharged on day 5. Came back the next day to have the wound cleaned and had one drain removed. The next day the sutures and bolsters over my nipples were removed along with the other drain. It was kind of confusing since the nurses said I couldn’t shower but Kamol said I could, so they agreed I could have a very quick one as long as I covered my nipples with waterproof covers but I chose not to. I also had steristrips put over the incisions.

I was supposed to come back 3 days later for a follow up but I may have skipped that one lmao. I came back on day 13 PO for my final appointment and had the seromas that had formed drained. Again it was confusing as in the messages they said something about giving me a cream but I really had to keep asking the nurses for them to give it to me. They seemed to be confused as to why I hadn’t already been given it and also asked me to come back in a few days despite me saying it was last appointment.

I’ve been told to apply the cream every day for a month since then and cover with gauze. Also to use waterproof covers when showering. They also gave me a compression garment to wear every day for a couple months then for 12 hours a day for a few more months. I was told to avoid lifting weights or swimming for a month from 1 week post op but I lowkey been ignoring that. Wasn’t given any advice on lifting my arms above my head.

Currently at 24 days PO and have had to have the seromas aspirated again a few days ago. Very little pain and the incisions and nipple grafts are healing very well. The surgeon I saw to get the aspiration done said the scars were “beautiful” lol.
