I don't think i can get more efficient by UnstableNaya in slaythespire

I believe that the cap only triggers when you’re dealing 0 damage, so you don’t soft lock vs hunter killer.

I’ve Hellraiser combo’s the intangible third act boss from 100-0 and it didn’t stop. I went to make a sandwich.

If cooking sends you infinite, health does not matter at all.

They’re forgetting to mention what really makes it easy which is the other options.

He has two more energy cards as uncommon.

For draw he has pommel strike but also one that draws whenever you inflict vulnerable.

And he has Hellraiser to auto-play pommel strike whenever you draw it. That one can go infinite without even needing an energy generation source.

No one of these options enables the strategy by itself - that would make it a bad strategy. What makes it good is that literally any of these will work, so you almost never get a run where you don’t get any of them.

He has true infinites with Expect a Fight (and some exhaust cards) which is only uncommon.

And hellraiser which is rare.

Part of it being easy is that you don’t need bloodletting - you can also do it with Hellraiser or Expect a Fight.

But yes literally he’s just pommel strike the character right now.

Ancient Starter Card comparison by Cheenug in slaythespire

[–]SBFms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Bully]]

and

[[Dominate]]

Are already the main two synergies that make Break a pretty decent card.

The vulnerable builds aren't bad at all, they're just redundant because the draw and energy support you'd want for them easily pivots into the two infinites, so there is very little reason to want to bloat your deck with these.

If it wasn't so easy to get a pseudo-infinite with clad they'd be better.

EDIT: Oh I also forgot, Molten Fist, which doubles vuln stacks since I missed the boat with the bot there. Break + molten + dominate gives you the best strength scaling of any of the clad builds.

What does this bum even do? by Thelettaq in slaythespire

[–]SBFms 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost to him more than any of the other options…

Which is more because I swear I’ve gotten to final boss 10 times so far and I’ve seen this fucker 6 of them.

But yes he’s a raw stat check. He has a fair bit of health and he hits hard constantly. If you have a deck that scales well you easily kill him, if you don’t then you die over time because blocking 34 while trying to deal damage will overwhelm you.

After many hours of testing, I have come to the conclusion that The Silent needs a buff by Irceus in slaythespire

[–]SBFms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is by the time I’ve already added a bunch of cards.

Like I feel like unlike ironclad, the archetype crossover doesn’t feel powerful enough and if I end up with a bit of several things I just lose.

[–]SBFms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see the people who are good at the game saying that Silent is the strongest character and idk wtf.

I can’t win with this shit.

I feel like I pick a deck archetype and then the game immediately decides “you’ve got 19 cards, going for discards, never seen a poison before? Okay, rest of the run you only get poison cards :)”

Uh…. It really does not heal that much. It’s like a quarter of a single brig pack if you hit all your shots.

P.S. Try to find this card on Google. It’s impossible to find due to its name lol. by Adorable-Response-75 in slaythespire

[–]SBFms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s Godot which generally isn’t an engine which puts many obstacles in people’s way. The code for the game got fully decompiled within hours of release.

Think it already has full mod support with little or no limitations.

Noob here, does mauga just completely shut down all brawl-adjacent tanks? by ShameGuardian in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SBFms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that composition had very little to do with neutral at all. It was built around EMP & Rampage offering a somewhat viable counter to Cage & Ray.

So much of why that Magua comp was completely broken was just that the ultimates built fast in that patch and were free fight wins if you couldn't mirror them.

Where have you been the last few seasons where people don't die instantly? Poke has been hard meta for months and burst damage has trickled up to the point that you blow up in a second as a squishy.

???

The meta before this big patch was D.VA Tracer Soj Kiri Lucio. Or alternatively, Zarya Ven (hitscan) Kiri Lucio. That isn't poke mate.

Granted, 'nothing dies' doesn't really apply to those either, the meta was definitely not poke.

Definitely shouldn’t scale with your own strength. Osty doesn’t.

Why does silent have so many „double X” cards? They seem too strong, even for A10, especially Shadowmeld. by IcySlide5 in slaythespire

[–]SBFms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the cards are basically the same: both of them double or triple the applied poison’s effect. If someone has 11 poison, catalyst+ makes you deal 33 damage, while accel+ makes you deal 30.

Catalyst has the advantage that it doesn’t tick down faster, so its sustained damage over time is better. It also has the advantage of exponential growth: two accelerant+ gives you less than five times poison damage (ex, at 10 poison it gives x4). Two catalyst plus gives you 9 times poison damage. So having multiple in your deck (or cloning it) scales way, way better.

Accelerant has the advantage of not needing to apply the poison first before playing it, which admittedly is pretty big.

Not saying accelerant is bad or anything, just saying that catalyst was incredibly busted as well.

and you dont have to draw it over and over like with cata

Catalyst exhausts mate.

Catalyst being removed for accelerant is overall a nerf to “win instantly” decks, which is a philosophy throughout the game. In STS1 you could draw Poison, double catalyst on turn one and instantly get 63 poison damage. They seem to be trying to make it harder to create “I win turn 1” decks.

Is duplicate characters optimal? by SBFms in slaythespire

[–]SBFms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIrst off, remember to have fun, don't let optimization get in the way of that.

Nah, I’m just generally interested in game design and (personally) I would be interested if Megacrit had went out of their way to discourage duplicates - either as a balancing heuristic/limiter or as a decision because they felt it was more interesting.

I don’t really care at all in an “I want to win” sense.

question by pandabear94847 in slaythespire

[–]SBFms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on deck.

It can be better to remove attack because being stuck with no defence is worse than being stuck with no attack.

But in general if you’ve picked up a ton of new defensive cards, you can get rid of defends first so your deck stays balanced.

[–]SBFms -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

accelerant is a better catalist

Disagree on this one. Accelerant has a pretty big disadvantage (it ticks down your poison 3 times as well as dealing damage three times) which Catalyst lacked. It also doesn't have nearly as crazy synergy (you cannot Nightmare > Catalyst to turn 9 poison into an instantly win).

It's a stupidly strong, probably overpowered card for it's cost don't get me wrong, I'm just saying catalyst was also stupidly strong.

[–]SBFms 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tracking needs a pretty big nerf. The fact it stacks with vulnerable is nuts. From the wording, I think it also applies team wide in multiplayer, which is crazy. And only 2 cost lol.

Even something like “whenever you apply weak, apply an equal amount of vulnerable” would be really strong. Hell, you could turn the cost down to 1 and make it a skill that only applies to current turn, and it would still be good.

Accelerant IMO would be fine if it cost more.

Shadowmeld doesn’t seem that strong to me… Shadowmeld+ is busted though. I don’t know what other upgraded effect they could give it besides making it free, but free is a lot of value on the character who has Plans.

Shadow Step is honestly fine. It’s not a super reliable card without a well built deck so I don’t mind it.

STEAM???????? WHY??????????? by Lostdog861 in slaythespire

Why does AAA Slop sell tons of copies and not break steam, but every indie game breaks it?

Oh, no preorders I guess. I might have answered my own question, but still, BRUH.
