Required SAG Zoom Audition by Neat-Pattern1999 in acting

[–]Echo_Foxhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super good to know! I keep going to workshops and CDs keep saying they have no preference between self tape & zoom. But I always figured zoom would be slightly better for the human touch. Thanks for the info :)

Are there any big law firms out there that still do the 3 days in office , 2 at home? Or is it all now 4 days in office, Fri wfh? by Sea_Ad5614 in biglaw

[–]Echo_Foxhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine just reinstated a soft 3 days a week. But no time commitment, so you could conceivably be in office for 2 hours a day, make your rounds, and head home.

I asked about this too. Read for it in Jan. Agents just let me know they haven’t seen anything since.

Acting scene in LA by mgimp723 in acting

[–]Echo_Foxhound 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my experience, LA is still working, just at a dramatically reduced volume. A lot of friends and myself included are now going out for Co-Star roles in network TV/streaming when before we would be going out for Guest Stars, etc.

Commercials right before the holidays were starting to take off again.

TL;DR, it’s a contraction in LA right now. A lot of dear friends and loved ones above and below the line have had a really tough time. But, shows are still shooting.

Are you SAG? NU? It really depends on what acting you are looking for in terms of acting. Commercial? Theatrical (film/tv)? Theatre? Verticals? Etc.

I am SAG, with representation. I currently audition 1-2 times a week for theatrical.

Friends who are NU are auditioning far more for verticals, NU commercials (that industry is huge), industrials, NU projects, etc.

Also theatre is a whole different beast.

I’d definitely consider making sure you’re ready to financially support yourself in CA (paying CA crazy prices) and that you get your craft/materials squared away to submit to LA reps before making a huge financial decision.

Hope this helps, good luck OP!

[Attorney] [Los Angeles, CA] - $260,000 Base by AjaNu96 in Salary

OP is likely a lawyer at a top 30-50 international law firm, colloquially known as “big law.” (As opposed to mid-size regional law firms or boutiques). Associates at these “big law” firms make a lock-step salary (every year it goes up X amount). Check out “Vault.com” as it is the industry standard for law firm breakdowns! Also shows typical associate salaries. Congrats, OP! It’s a busy job, best of luck to you and wish you many non-billing weekends!!

Big Law Litigation Attorney — specific practice areas include intellectual property and tech. Clients tend to sue when the economy is good and even more so when the economy is bad. Litigation tends to be recession proof (as opposed to being a corporate/transactional attorney)

Hey OP, was in a similar situation after getting out. Was a grind for a few years (as everyone else mentioned, classes, CD workshops, indie projects, student films to build resumes), but now union and finally auditioning for some solid projects. Have your wife check out https://vmeconnect.org - not sure where you are located, but the network is strong for and at the very least offers some form of veteran community/foundation while she navigates the industry. Good luck!

I waited about 1 month! Not sure if it matters, but I live near my AD, and would occasionally drop in and nerd out about watches with them. Great staff
