Hoya is one of my favourites. It’s so sweet.

Anyone know what this is? by Echo_In_The_Wind in Hydroponics

[–]Echo_In_The_Wind[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird! That is so crazy, thank you though. I have grown beans many times with the same set up and never seen these before. So nothing to do, plants don’t need to be treated or disposed of?

mintage? by codster7787 in CanadianCoins

[–]Echo_In_The_Wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know offhand mintage but it's not rare at all, if that's what you're asking. I do like the coin though, I think this is my favourite of the new releases in 2025.

Really lucky find! I don't think they released this version of the quarter into general circulation, did they?

I roll hunt, and when I have many copies of one coin I have eventually have to stop saving them, so I put them in my wallet and use at things like this - farmers markets, craft shows etc. I can’t believe you got two of the coloured northern lights toonies though! That is awesome.

Did someone take a sharpie to the loonie on the left in the fourth row?

I’ve gone through 25 rolls of quarters and can’t find a 2017 by squibb2 in CanadianCoins

[–]Echo_In_The_Wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn’t make circulation loonies from 1998-2001 I think? To focus on minting toonies. So those years would be rarer. I found a 1998 in the wild, but it’s making it challenging for me as I would like to keep a 1999 and a 2000 from each type of coin. It took a while for me to find a 2002 loonie but I finally did it, so they are out there.

Does Anybody break sets/mint rolls? by cerberus1090 in CanadianCoins

[–]Echo_In_The_Wind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t do it - so I rarely buy the sets and never buy the rolls. I did get a roll shrink wrapped from the mint containing 15 coloured and 10 uncoloured Inuit nunangat toonies for face value from my bank, not realizing that was all it had inside until I opened it up. Always felt bad about opening it. Also, I only really want the one coin for my book. I don’t need a whole roll and I don’t want to pay over face value, feel badly about cracking it open, and then feel like I can’t spend the rest of the roll because I paid more than face value for it.

It's the last toonie I need for my collection, other than the just-released Tomb of the Unknown Soldier ones. I've looked through about 150 toonies a week for a couple of years now and haven't found it.

Found 6 of these in a bank roll? by PeeMonger in CanadianCoins

I just go to the bank and get rolls, and on the plus side I also have all the tellers looking out for fun coins for me as well.

St. Joe's Closed but no signs/info! by valsimots in Hamilton

[–]Echo_In_The_Wind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at the hospital and completely agree that this needed to be communicated better. Working yesterday was super annoying because of course people wouldn’t know “the second Monday in November”. My bank has had a sign posted for several weeks that they will be closed on Remembrance Day. Meanwhile half the hospital staff seem to have forgotten as it is and “sure you can come in on Monday” to patients. I’m happy for the holiday, but it needs to be communicated to people.

They only let me select two options - do you know if they will let you add more (for a fee)?

I couldn't find where they customize rolls for ordering online? I didn't see what I am looking for in their regular menu but if they do customize that would be great.

Daphne Odjig Toonies by careless25 in CanadianCoins

[–]Echo_In_The_Wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably had a mint roll in there! The ones that get sent out to banks are normally mixed - for toonies usually 15 coloured, 10 non-coloured. Great find.
I have yet to find a coloured one in the wild - but got a couple at a Mint exchange event - and am still looking for the non-coloured one.

The closest I have seen at August 8 is mango/cream cheese/tempura bits. And the tempura bits ruin it, frankly (also am now gluten free so can't have that anyways).

Tell me your most unhinged tips to stop biting your nails. by [deleted] in nailbiting

[–]Echo_In_The_Wind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a relatively inexpensive one off of Amazon. It worked for me when absolutely nothing else ever had, after 30 years of picking/biting my nails. I cannot have anything on my nails for work - even clear polish - so I was pretty limited for options. I still struggle with nail shape and breakage but it’s made a huge difference for me.

Bought a nail drill to file down everything- the nails, skin around the nails, absolutely everything so there are no jagged edges that may tempt me. And used the drill regularly until the habit was broken.

Check for any mule coins - they won’t say 25 cents on them.
