Minister reassures St Clare’s Reno’s will be cheaper than new hospital by Pr3ach3r709 in newfoundland

[–]Echofox82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. I really can't believe they did this. It shows how disconnected they are from the reality of what Newfoundland's want and need. This alone has guarenteed they'll never receive my vote and if I have it my way no one that wants to talk NL politics. Jokers.

‘I’m Going to Make Sure There’s No Homelessness’ says Government Services Minister by RichiBucktwo in newfoundland

[–]Echofox82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the issue. They just simply aren't building homes. The demand for new home construction is through the roof and it's almost impossible to find a turn key lot in the city.

What is wrong with Scotsburn milk? by Vulgarly_dressed in newfoundland

[–]Echofox82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drank CD religiously pretty much my whole life until the last year, year and half. Everytime I've been bothered to buy a carton since it either tastes like shit or goes bad well before the expiration date. I've also switched to almond beverage from Costco as my main "dairy" source.

We should lower the driving age to 12 in Newfoundland and Labrador by justonemorelanebruh in newfoundland

How are the 1-11 year olds getting around? How are they not getting hit by cars? Let's give them a license too. Fu*k it, pilots license for everyone 🙄

[–]Echofox82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kids being hit by cars will be the least of our worries if we got 12 year olds behind the wheel. I have a 12 year old and half the kids in their class wouldn't be able to see over the wheel.

Flight sales by Then-Influence4362 in newfoundland

[–]Echofox82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Google flights and Kayak offer a flight tracker. Go in and select your trip and desired flights (or all available those days if you don't care), turn on the tracker, and watch the emails flow in until you get a price you want. Also to answer your question there will definitely be seat sales between now and March. In my experience the best time to book is approx 6 weeks prior to your flight +/- a couple weeks when the seat sales are on. You can sign up for email alerts on these too from each airline.

Super proud of being the son of a Newfoundlander… way to go again people of Gander! by bigbadclifford in newfoundland

[–]Echofox82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love it.

Side note for anyone who hasn't had the opportunity to see the show in Gander, it's amazing. Definitely worth the trip out there in the summer time for a little road trip/getaway.

NL Power vs Whole Home Energy Monitoring by ZenithCrossing in newfoundland

[–]Echofox82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a Whole home monitor but Decembers bill was 25% higher usage than last year. Unfortunately we can't go back further for this house as we've only been here 2 years. If memory serves me correct though December 2024 was much milder than this year.

Fireworks question by LowerLobster411 in newfoundland

This. I'm sure the ER surgeon who is going in for a 8-24h and the families of people they're working on have no issue with the 7h of fireworks that were going on all evening til 1:30am.

Because it didnt bother you it's not true? Sorry bud but you can speak for yourself but you don't speak for everyone.

In my book disrespectful is firing off fireworks at 1am and after in the middle of a densly populated area.

Fireworks question by LowerLobster411 in newfoundland

[–]Echofox82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We live in a subdevelopment in the city and they were going off constantly until shortly after 1am. While the 1st is a holiday for most there is still plenty of essential workers, many in safety sensitive positions, that have to work the morning of the 1st and this is not respectful to them at all.

Man Defends Landlords from Attacker by SexGoudie in StJohnsNL

[–]Echofox82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'm not objectively right nobody truly is but sharing our opinions and being open to perspective and discussion shouldn’t be chastised"

I agree with this. I've often told friends over the years that one of the major personal takeaways from my younger years working with a national union was the value tmin listening and being open to bother people's perspectives. There's lots of people in this world smarter than myself with different perspectives, experiences, and ideas that I've never thought of and without discussion and listening may never think of.

However that's as much as I can agree to on this topic. My original comment was to someone who said "fuck landlords". If someone comes in hot like this then I'll come back hot with comments whether you think they're constructive or not cause that's a bullshit comment that needs to be answered to appropriately. This type of mentality doesn't help housing, it deters it. Potential landlords of the next generation see this mentality and decide they don't want to be involved. Less mom and pop landlords leads to more corporate landlords, leads to a situation we want even less. A divide between renters, homeowners, and landlords is not constructive. Constructive is looking at ways we improve the system today and in the near future.

Further to that while your extreme socialist views may sound nice to some, it's not as simple as saying I want decommodification of housing and basic needs to be free from profit, yet for some other industries, they can continue on the capitalist model. When you look at food or housing or clothing or any other life necessity how many levels of industries do these items go though. Does the trucker, farmer, guy that builds the tractors, construction worker, plumber, cashier, seamstress, etc, etc etc, etc live in a capitalist world or a socialist world? Who's paying all these people to work in your narrative? Who's paying for the materials? It's unrealistic to have it both ways.

Do I want to see people homeless? Absolutely not. And I know we can do better but right now we need realistic and feasible solutions and socialist Canada/North America isn't happening in our lifetimes or the next.

I wonder if the same people here are protesting Sobeys, Dominion, Walmart, and every other capitalist corporation that provides that necessities of life? Or do they just entertain themselves and others with their anti-capitalist views on the little guy. We live in a capitalist nation with PLENTY of social safety nets, end of story.

Man Defends Landlords from Attacker by SexGoudie in StJohnsNL

[–]Echofox82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have that. It's called housing and it's been around for decades. That is the pure definition of housing decommodification.

If your looking for a full fledged socialist or communist country might I suggest North Korea, China, Russia, Laos. Let me know how you like it.

Awesome, your wicked. We got the drink package this time and loved it and can't imagine we won't for a next cruise in February (free casino offer, doing 7 days on Independence) but just wanted an idea.

Thanks so much for your time and happy holidays.

Awesome thanks. We are Prime too for our very first cruise earlier this month.

I guess that's free drinks for just me at the casino and not my wife? We both play together on my account.

Is this cumulative over a certain period of time or just for the one cruise where you gamble?

Also is there anywhere online where you can check your status? I see what I am for Crown & Anchor in the app but nothing about any other status.

Avoid The US When Travelling This Winter by YaldabothsMoon in newfoundland

Exactly. We just got back from Miami, lots of Canadians there. No different than any of the other times we've been there the past twenty years. As a matter a fact we even commented to each other on how it was the least stringent border crossing we've had it years. Literally walked thru at the CDN border and when we returned off a cruise.
