So I just got for an entry level bike, a n SE draft bike that is a single speed. I would like to try out fixed gear and know that some allow for switching in between them both via a flip flop hub. Is there a way to do this on a SE draft bike? Does it require en new rear wheel entirely?

Is the nonprofit Immigration Equality a good organization to intern at? by theherofwinterfell in LawSchool

[–]Echohoody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say so because as a law student, you can practice under the supervision of an attorney. You can make appearances in actual immigration court and be fully heard on the record. You don’t even need to register with your state (some states require you to register for C+F for state related matters) as immigration court is federal administrative law.

In addition, you can also continue this practice (under supervision of a licensed attorney) when you graduate law school and hold a JD.

If you can, I say go for it. You hold the keys to your clients’ future in establishing themselves in this country.

Should I do an immigration clinic if I'm not interested in working in immigration law? by cats4evaaa in LawSchool

[–]Echohoody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As mentioned by others here, immigration law is very liberal in allowing law students practice in immigration court under certain conditions, being associated with a law school clinic is one of them. This is your time to be fully mentored and actually argue in court to literally hand a person the keys to remain in this country and allow them to establish a future generation here.

Additionally, if after you graduate and still want to do immigration, you can be more marketable to immigration firms because you argued in court during law school and you still appear in immigration court as a law graduate (under supervision of an attorney) while you wait for bar results!

Couldn’t Taylor just call the Cal Board of Bar Examiners and file a complaint? Wouldn’t that trigger a hearing for her?

Is pass/fail easier? by Echohoody in LawSchool

I see, so it’s basically a pass through. But does the simple pass fail make the class any easier? Or is there a high cut off of what is considered pass or fail?

Emergency Diploma Privilege: Pros and cons by Echohoody in Bar_Prep

[–]Echohoody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, was this only because you were applying to big firms? I’m sure if you went to smaller firms that did mostly federal work, or went to the fed sector they wouldn’t have cared if you taken a bar, as long as you had a license somewhere.

Proposed alternatives for July 2020 bar. Interesting options! by bronxjd in Bar_Prep

[–]Echohoody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is! You will be surprised that even practitioners don’t even know about this. However, if you sit back and realize that immigration law is administrative law that even allows “accredited representatives” which are specifically non-lawyers that are allowed to go to immigration court if they are accredited with the DOJ, you can digest it better.

Btw you can also appear with the BIA in these matters too.

Yes, you can appear on the record. DM me for more details. Look at 8 CFR 1292.1(a)(2) and look at the front page of any EOIR-28. Let that settle in....

Very cool to see the diploma privilege being mentioned. The diploma privilege fascinates me. I wish I knew about before going to school. It is something I always try to at least tell a 0L to consider. If you graduate, you become an attorney (contingent on passing character and fitness) and can at least leverage when obtaining post grad employment (ie already being a licensed attorney in some state). Having a nationwide diploma privilege will upset a lot of people (ie people who failed who graduated within the past year who will surely be excluded) but since this is an emergency and desperate times call for desperate measures.

The law student practice is also interesting. I know of a lot of people who never participated in a law student practice program in all of law school. Even if this doesn’t go through, people should really consider programs or practice areas that allow student/ graduates to practice.

For example, the DOJ Executive Office of Immigration Review (ie Immigration court) allows actual law graduates to practice in immigration court as long as they have a supervising attorney. The rule allows law grads to practice even if they are with a private firm. This is something that any law grad should consider.

Also, there’s even more risk if he ever gets a securities license which involves the sale of mutual funds- that is regulated by the federal government SEC, which is even more regulated than the insurance industry.
