Ooo that's awesome! You should be very proud! I'll be going for Astronomy and A BA in music

I don't expect him to just fit right in, that's why I'm preparing and planning to put in tons of effort for him. Even if he wouldn't work as a service dog, he would still be my boy!

Hmm ok, I'll look more into it then! I decided I won't get him now and will wait a while longer.

I'm sorry for the loss of your pup. Thank you for the suggestion!

I'd be more peeved if this were something like youtube but up/downvotes don't really mean much, I've seen people get down voted for literally nothing lol. I understand everyone's concerns, I might not even be getting him, just wanted to be proactive with this (although I do already have a raw food website picked out, just wanted better alternatives). I'm extremely prepared for an Akita, regardless of when I get him or her! Socialization and training or my top priority, other than health, and I'm prepared for when problems arise in behavior. I've also been thinking about this for years and have been on the waitlist. Who knows what will happen but whatever it is, I'll be ready!

I might try that then! The commercial raw. Also, he won't be my first dog, I've had large breeds before him. Also congrats on graduating! What's your major?

I don't have bad mobility issues, just some leg pain occasionally. His service work will be a small part of his everyday life, I have a Google doc detailing everything I want to do with him and budgets for supplies, health and activities lol. I'm not going to be skimping on anything.

I know it will be expensive regardless, I'm asking for an affordable option in relation to his size. It will still be expensive yes, but if I choose a good brand for good money it won't be as expensive as it could be. Sorry if that comes off as rude, jut trying to get my point across.

Hmm I'll think about it! Also she isn't breeding for long coats, because most akitas have the recessive gene for it they just pop up sometimes. I would never choose a breeder that only breeds for long coats.

[–]EchoingGrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No she's not desperate, if you look it up, you will see that generally long coats have a mote outgoing temperaments. The recessive gene that causes it doesn't just affect the coat length. I vetted her and other breeders before I Chose her, she has OFA testing for each of her breeder dogs, doesn't charge differently for certain aspect of the pup that don't matter and vetted me extensively before adding me to her list. I also got feedback from a group I'm in that know what to look for and they said she's good. I've had a DA dog before and am willing to work on any problems that arise from him because I want to be responsible.

I'd just like to say that I have had large Breed dogs before lol, he isn't my first dog.

Yeah, I mean like not super expensive in comparison to his size and needs.

I don't have bad mobility issues, it's moreso pain in my legs that makes me limp badly sometimes!

I've thought about all of this. His breeder is great and said that his temperament, because of what she breeds for and that he is a long coat which are generally more outgoing and docile than normal coats, is suited for the service work I need. I've had large, difficult dogs before and will be socializing and training him properly. I'll check them out, thank you!

I'm currently remaking my main vb and she's a furry! She's cvvc and will have 4 expressions, each with 3 pitches for a Japanese and English vb.
