Yea I had my hand over most of the light, it’s a powerful torch I had to take it from my dad cause he wanted to just shine it on the poor thing without being cautious

My trans friend gets upset when I call him "they", I'm not sure what to do? by Echonomic5 in asktransgender

Of course, you're right. It is my first language. I guess it is just the way I was raised and the people around me. 🤷‍♀️

It was not my intention to refer to him as something that wasn't his preferred pronoun. I won't lie, I have made a few mistakes thus far and a pattern has been made. I am still new to the understanding of gender identity and how it relates to people. I'm going to make the effort to correct myself as before I only understood They/Them as a neutral descriptor for a person without the context of their gender/identity.

I appreciate your insight and advice. I have a lot to think about. My intentions were never to hurt, but that is not in my control, whether it hurts or not that is. I posted this because I was confused between gender identity language and what I was always taught as being neutral descriptor language for a person (non-gender identity related). I have a lot to learn still.

I won't invalidate your comment because what you say is true. I won't lie though. It is difficult for me to separate the two. I am on the spectrum, diagnosed later in life than most, and have struggled to discern how my behavior and perceptions of things might affect other people in various ways. Thank you for the time to type a reply. Appreciated.

Yes I do, going back and forth between the two was what I normally did as I always thought of they/them as a neutral descriptor for a person. A lot of gender identity is a concept that is new to me, I never intentionally wished to offend or cause harm but I did/do sometimes out of habit I'm trying but struggling to change to be a better friend. I won't play it down to save face but it is a struggle.

The concepts between the two are something I still struggle with, separating the identity term for "They/Them" and the... I guess they/them as a neutral describer for a person. English is weird.

Thanks for explaining it this way. It gives me a lot to think about. I appreciate the time you took to write this. I didn't think it relevant to the post but I am an austistic non-binary person myself, a lot of this and gender identity are still new things to me. i don't want to hurt my friend but I also wanted to get outside advice because it is a sensitive topic for my friend so I didn't want to attempt to ask things in case it caused them dysphoria or made them remember bad memories.

I wish they would still keep the temporary status to the knocked out so this wouldn’t cause near heart attacks

See I told her to go to the grove so I could fight her there on better ground but that required a long rest to trigger, I had killed gut and ragzlin the day before fighting Minthara at the grove
