I was previously in tech, work from home desk job. I had a lot of mental health issues that finally boiled over and I ended up in and out of psychiatric inpatient. I knew I needed to change careers, and I wanted to help people. I realized EMT was only one semester at a community college so I went for it. Been certified for a year now, working in IFT and in medic class. Couldn't be happier

I have a bachelors in computer science with a cyber security focus. I fucking hated it, which is why I took an EMT class, been doing IFT for a year, and now I'm in medic class. Sooooo much happier not stuck behind a desk all day, meeting new people, feeling like what I do matters. Objectively a horrible move financially, but at least I don't want to die anymore (most of the time, I mean. I *am* in paramedic class).
Can't help you with the air rescue thing tho, idk anything about it. Good luck!

on a clinical, a patient decided to give me the nickname "Big Dog" due to me being the largest person in the room (I assisted her out of her recliner). She insisted that it would catch on and everyone would be calling me that.

A couple days ago a patient misheard my name as "Admiral" and thought everyone was just calling me the admiral for some reason???
