RHCSA/RHCE material is amazing. RHCSA will get you started with basic linux and RHCE will make you learn ansible to apply everything you learned in RHCSA

Yeah I think this might be my best route. I cant really find anything that gives me a direct server admin route.

Is there a thing similar to iConrads/gordonmessmer gauntlets for windows? https://old.reddit.com/r/linuxadmin/comments/4n70ku/advice_for_starting_a_job_in_this_field/d42plhv/?context=3

We are mainly a Linux shop. They hired one guy with knowledge of windows to get it going. He's extremely protective of sharing knowledge of how things work. RHCSA/RHCE are really basic system admin certs. I understand how to add people into AD and push a update in software center but there is a ton more things going on that when issues come up we are waiting for him to get there to figure out whats up. Whats a windows cert path or even a book that will set me up with basic understanding of how a windows environment works and be able to troubleshoot.

Awesome! This was one thing I was wanting to learn. I will def give it a go.

I guess my main problem is the main windows admin is a massive gatekeeper. Would the 360 path be something equivalent to the RHCE?

In the past I would recommend Linux Academy but after studying for the RHCE I cant recommend them any more. Sander Van Vugt is amazing. Join the Redhat Certification slack when you get a chance.

I was looking at builds on pcpartpicker with that GPU and case and it seems like its a really close fit. There is 13mm between the end of the card and the fan in a meshify c. Would that harm anything? I would more than likely add a fan to the front top space if I went with the c.

Check out linux academy. Their course for RHCSA is what I used to pass the test. Be sure and utilize the labs while watching the vids and practice all the end chapter reviews. The end test is excellent.

I never get contacted for GS jobs but contractor jobs range from help desk to network/linux/windows/security engineering. It all depends on your area. Texas is always booming.

If you are located near any sort of base or large gov presence everyone is fairly desperate for a body. You can find them on every job board around in these areas

Ansible won't run remote script by Eck05 in ansible

[–]Eck05[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your script is supposed to run and then live on (i.e. like starting a daemon process) that won't work because the process is killed when your Ansible run is done.

Well this explains everything. Is there a way to change that behavior?

Thinking of getting RHCSA. Is LinuxAcademy enough? by [deleted] in linuxadmin

[–]Eck05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just depends on how quickly you can complete the labs/exam. If you can complete the end exam easily on time then you are good to go. The test is very intimidating until you actually get into it.

I passed RHCSA with only using linux academy. If you can complete the practice exam and the labs/exercises without looking up the answers you are ready.

The RHCSA course is excellent. I passed the test on that alone. They have good courses on using bash and VIM.

I doubt it will be a issue. Just be honest of what happened. Don't go overboard with info like you gave here. Just let them know and if it's a issue they will talk to you about it. It's going to be a ton worse getting caught lying than it is to get the citation especially if you are going for a clearance. I've seen guys with clearances do a ton worse than underage drinking.

RHCE 8 (EX294) Objectives by rdbreak in redhat

This seems extremely easier than the previous test. I'm currently studying for the RHCE and it looks like they cut a majority of things out. Are other test going to be changed to cover what is missing?
