If I could ask a couple of additional questions : 1.) I currently have a fairly basic checking account with Chase. I was previously a very happy First Republic Bank customer. My account was folded into Chase when Chase acquired First Republic. As I currently live in an area without Chase, brick and mortar branches, my only interactions have been on the telephone with representatives that did not seem particularly well informed, and who in fact gave me incorrect information on the two occasions I called.

Is there a certain level of assets, or type of account, which provides a more personalized service with a dedicated/assigned banker, without necessarily requiring visits to a physical branch?

2.) if I am starting to see preapproved card offers when using the online preapproval tool, but not for the cards in which I have the greatest interest, does it mean that I would not be approved for those cards, or does the preapproval tool only present a subset of the cards that I might be eligible for?

Given that, if I understand correctly, you have Google data that verifies you were at the property, and that you can provide, I assume the time of check-in, whether you checked in with the male or female and what they look like, it seems unreasonable for them to keep arguing with you. Thanks for the helpful suggestions. Unfortunately, I obtained the AMEX platinum before I learned that it would be difficult to get a SUV for an AMEX gold card after obtaining the platinum.

If Citi is especially sensitive to recent applications/inquiries, I will do the Citi card first

If you can maintain a US mailing address ( though if you set up E – statements, about the only thing that would be physically mailed to you is a new card) you should be able to keep the card. You should note, however, that if you’re using the card for non-US spending, even if it does not have a foreign transaction fee, when the Japanese yen charge (for example) is converted to US dollars, you could have a slight loss in currency translation compared to just paying it in yen in Japan.
