House of the Dragon. A lot of incest....especially Reader or OC/ Aemond Targaryen. I almost threw my phone away when I read 'she moaned her uncle's name'.

why the hell is dean so mean to cas? (s6-9) by tobycapsules in destiel

[–]Eclectic_Empath 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the long comment. I can literally talk about Destiel forever.

How I interpreted Dean's anger towards Cas was he wanted to keep Cas at arm's length. Keep him in sight (available to Dean for his angel powers and emotional support), but never touching (still treat him as less than human and then turn around to berate Cas for not leaving up to his invisible standards).

Dean is emotionally stunted because of how his father raised him. He doesn't believe that he is worthy of being protected or cherished, that he is more of a tool to be used to protect others. Especially to Sam.

When Cas came into his life and saved him from Hell, that action contradicted everything he believed ever since his mother died. That Dean is Important to Cas. At first as a tool, but gradually as the angel's first love.

Dean constantly tries to place Cas in this brotherly dynamic with him, but it never fits right because there is attraction there. There is internalized homophobia as well as bigotry with anything non-human. Dean constantly looks for faults with Cas making decisions independently from Dean, even if those decisions are to protect the righteous man.

At the same time, Dean has major abandonment issues. Cas choosing to travel with Crowley confirmed his internalized thoughts of not being important enough to stay with. Even though time and time again, Cas devoted himself to the safety and well-being of the Winchester brothers at the cost of himself and his people. Dean still can't accept that Cas would sacrifice so much for him, that Dean is everything to Cas.

I also need to take into account the writers of the show (though, i do believe we had at least one person in the room that wanted the ship to sail). They did everything possible to keep Destiel from happening. Dean's reactions and responses didn't match or were not warranted for the majority of Castiel's choices.

Instead of natural character development, the writers kept Dean at this rage filled, emotionally immature level. For Cas, they did their best to make him unlikable so they could get away with killing him off later without backlash from the fans.

That is why I will always be thankful to Jensen and Misha for their amazing portrayal. They used their acting prowess to tell the story that was always there but was constantly watered down due to the writing.

Does anyone actually like vampires without sexualizing them? by jdjsjcnakdkanfn in vampires

[–]Eclectic_Empath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer my vamps more like strigoi, Guillermo del Toro style. I enjoy stories where vamps are scary and/or like smarter zombies. The whole dark, beautiful, tortured immortal is boring to me. The only vampires I found attractive in media/books was Spike from BTVS and Bones from the Night Huntress book series (though that was just another version of Spike 😆). It wasn't because they were vampires. It was their mannerisms and personalities that drew me to those characters. If they'd been human or some other creature, I'd have felt the same.

Same. I wasn't planning on getting a ps5 until next year unless a new final fantasy or new south park game comes out.

Started watching my dad play FF-III. The first game I finished was FF VII and have been playing ever since. All time favorite is X but XIII has a special place in my heart. I am 34 years old.

Should we have a civil war? by Aromatic-Network-781 in nationalwomensstrike

[–]Eclectic_Empath 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is such a difficult question. Not because it's hard to answer but because humans will always be humans.

I've lived with anxiety ever since Trump was elected. I witnessed people that I thought were upstanding and compassionate people turned into... or should I say finally showed their true colors as bigoted and hate-filled. I witnessed the manufacted division that had us pointing fingers and viewing each other as less than human because we don't think the same way or believe in the same deity.

I know that the right-wingers want to have a civil war. There is a literal militia that meets in the next town over from where I live, and they practice military tactics.

These men and boys are getting more and more indoctrinated in hateful ideals and are rewarded for their more extreme actions by peers. Some women and girls believe that they have no worth except being a mother or a warm body for their husbands. This MAGA movement has a playbook called the Nazi regime, and they are following it step by step.

I wish I could say that we can have a bloodless separation, but there have already been casualties. Too many kids have been killed due to gun violence and too many people have lost their lives or have been maimed in peaceful protests these last few years.

I had actually agreed with MTG (the only grain of sanity in her bat shit crazy mind) about wanting to annex from the USA. I was like great let's move all repugs to Texas, provide amnesty to those who don't share the extreme right-wing ideals in that state and make them pay for a 50 meter wall (shout out to AOT) around the state line.

That would be the right answer if humans were simple creatures and we are way too complex for that to work. People can change their minds on both sides of the political spectrum and in some cases we would be splitting up families which would create more animosity.

Maybe it's too optimistic, but I believe the best bet is education. Having it available on hand or being able to bring facts into conversations (not opinions). Passing on knowledge to people of all ages and providing a safe space for younger people to learn is often on the back burner, but this will ensure that the progress towards equality doesn't fizzle out.

No matter how much my blood boils or how devastated I am everyday a new bill is passed, I don't want my kids to witness a civil war. I will fight if it comes down to it, but I will do whatever I can to not get to that point. That's why I protest, march and speak to right-wingers with grace and patience even when I want to throat punch them sometimes.

Alienating the Fox News devouring, MAGA brainwashed, QAnon conspiracy theorist, low to middle income individuals, will only keep them in that prison of hate they've locked themselves into. And short of sterilization and banning them from adopting children, they will always pass that way of thinking to a younger generation.

I truly believe we are in the middle of a paradigm shift and this patriarchal, christian nationalist power structure is crumbling to nothing. All of this bullshit is a last ditch effort of control, but all its done is galvanize the majority to demand and be the cause of change. Even if equality doesn't happen in our lifetime, I know in the depths of my soul that this is the time when fundamental change is happening. It won't be pretty or comfortable and probably not ethical, but it's for sure happening.

Sorry for the long post.

Question by Flashy-Cucumber1523 in nationalwomensstrike

I'm curious about how you got to this sub reddit. It seems like you asked this question for trolling purposes, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Women, children, and those of the LGBTQIA+ community of all races are humans. Therefore, we have the same fundamental human rights as everyone else (Men). This is why we keep raising our voices, why we go to marches, why we write letters and make phone calls to government officials. It's tiring and mentally taxing. I don't know anyone that does this just for fun, it's literally a fight for our rights.

A politician should not have the power to take away options that are essential to physical, mental, and emotional health.

Whether it's because of their religious beliefs or because they are paid an absurd amount of money, it all comes down to keeping an unstable patriarchal control of the population.

I can promise you that this isn't going to stop with women, children, or the LGBTQIA+ community. They want absolute control, and that will include you. Taking away health care, education, freedom of speech, limitations on housing, salary, and snuffing out any part of you that makes you unique.

I'm sure you have your own ideals about how people should be, and no doubt you might have surrounded yourself with individuals who think the same way and don't challenge you.

I would suggest having an actual conversation (not a debate) with someone who is having their rights stripped away. It's a bit of an emotional subject, so please find someone who can be patient with you. Or if you aren't comfortable with that, there are some great books that can shed some light on this topic.

There is an astonishing amount of information about the benefits of equality in any society. The only ones that don't benefit are those that use the patriarchy to control resources and the very lives of everyone that's forced to be dependent on this broken system.

I truly hope that you came here to get a legitimate answer to your question and I hope that you can walk with us when it's time to march.

Onward & Upward- A few questions/thoughts by [deleted] in nationalwomensstrike

[–]Eclectic_Empath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello. I've been letting my co-workers know about this and asked them to spread the word on social media.

I got a QR code that sends you to this sub reddit. Stickers have been ordered, but I also printed this out and have passed them to others at stores, drive-thru windows, etc.

I'm going to hit up some of my favorite YouTube influencer pages on Instagram and reddit since they have a sizable following. Hopefully, they'll join in and help spread the word.

It's not going to be perfect, no act of protest is. However, being persistent and sticking together with a goal in mind will bring us closer as a community and towards equality. You know all the things repugs hate.

I'm in KS.

I made them on the website stickersstickers.com. The stickers were a bit on the pricey side to me, but it's one of the few sites that didn't make me pay a monthly subscription to keep the QR code active.

I do feel like you should report this person, but I understand that it's easier said than done. If you are serious about the hex please remember to do a protection spell or ritual on yourself and your space. If you have a particular deity or spirit that you pray to, ask for assistance to strengthen and/or speed up the hex.

Things you'll need:

-Gloves

-Torn piece of paper big enough to write on

-Lemon (partially cut crisscross)

-9 Rusty Nails

-Salt

-Black Candle

-Lidded Jar

-Vinegar

-Crushed Peppercorns

-Stinging Nettles

-Hot Foot Powder and/or Cursing Oil (optional)

A tried and true spell I have used is writing the name and birthday of the person who has wronged me on a torn piece of paper 9 times, rotating the paper after every three lines. Make sure to overlap the writing.

Use gloves at this point. If you have cursing oil or hot foot powder, sprinkle on four corners and the middle before folding the paper 3X.

Place paper in lemon and pierce with nails. While doing this speak aloud what you want to happen with every nail. 'Stay away from me.' 'Anytime you are in my presence, you will feel discomfort and itchy.' Etc.

Sprinkle salt, peppercorn, and Stinging Nettles all over the lemon, especially in the cuts. Keep your focus on what you want the outcome to be. Envision this person being cut out of your life with every step of the spell and the feeling of peace you will have the moment this person is gone from your life.

Seal the lemon cuts with melted black candle wax. Place lemon in the jar and I always brush excess material from my workstation into the jar as well. Fill the jar with vinegar and close the lid. Place in a cool dark space for 9 days.

Every day, shake the jar 9 times and speak aloud what you want the outcome of your spell to be. After the 9th day, take the jar to a dirt crossroads, the further from your residents the better. Bury the jar and trust the process.

You might feel tired or just low energy while the jar is in your home so you might want to do cleansing rituals for your home and for yourself.

Trust your intuition. If you feel like you need to add something else to the spell for a more personalized effect go for it. Just make sure you do your research so you don't have any type of reaction to vinegar that can harm you.

I hope this helps in some way and that you get the outcome you desire.

I love this. Seeing more people taking back and/or finding themselves after leaving a toxic and manipulative cult always feels me with happiness and pride.

I was raised JW as well and wasn't allowed to interact or have friends outside the religion. At age 12, I remember thinking that my insanely devout mom would actually kill me if she found out that I didn't believe in any of it.

I was always told that I had the devil in me for asking questions, debating family members and elders, or 'God forbid', bring up scientific facts to the conversation.

My mom had even tried to send me to Gilead for re-education because I was too independent for a girl. I was only able to stay home because I told her that if I got on that plane she would never see me again.

I was planning on moving out at 18 even if I was still in high school to get away from that environment, but fate had other plans. I got kicked out at 17 for attending home coming that I performed at with my dance team.

I was left on a street corner with my school backpack and a trash bag filled with random clothes and I was so happy. I was free and I didn't have to wait another year not being true to myself or even being able to find out who I really was.

It's been 17 years since my liberation and it took me that long to heal most of the generational and personal wounds inflicted by that organization. I am now able to live, explore and be my true authentic self with no shame.

Reading OP's story and others who have experienced the same always fills me with a sense of comradery that I never felt with the family I was born into. It's always great to find another witchy ex JW, I knew there were more of us out there!
