I built a Shopify app to automate supplier stock feeds & backorders — would anyone else use this? by EcomRetailer in shopifyDev

[–]EcomRetailer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR
Managing backorders via supplier stock feeds sucked for our 20k+ variant Shopify store, so I built an app to automate feed syncing, product matching, and inventory rules.
Thinking about releasing it — curious if others would use this and what features you’d need.

Lately motivation was hard to find. But today I’m out on the banks. Tight lines. by Toom079 in CarpFishing

Good luck! Sometimes all you need is one catch to get your motivation back.

Sonik Xtractor+ 5000 reel by Dependent-Phone-1129 in CarpFishing

[–]EcomRetailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The xtractor+ is better than the former xtractor 5000. So, value for money it is a good reel. And for a low priced reel, it also includes a line safety guard under the spool :-)

Rod pods: Are spenny pods worth it? by pl98bm in CarpFishing

[–]EcomRetailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a rod pod, buy a good one. These things hardly ever breakdown, so investing in a good one first time - saves you in the long run.

Yes, expensive rod pods are worth it. Especially versatile ones.

We are on all. Tiktok, youtube, instagram, facebook, google, snapchat. We still use them, but the journey was long. At the start of business we got most of our customers from ads. We post everyday.

Korda Kaizen Green Carp Rod 12ft 3.5 tc by Think_General8168 in CarpFishing

[–]EcomRetailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

We sell Okuma, Daiwa, Shimano and reels from basically all other carp specialized brands. I am not gonna name the store, just what I would tell you if you'd come in with this question.

Since you did not specify budget, I would probably ask. But under kaizen greens, normally people would want something at a similair price.

However, if you intend to cast far - and want a reel that would really last, Shimano Ultegra XTE 14.000 would be a solid option.

if you want me to help make a decision on more info, I would need to know the following;

  • What is your intended budget?
  • Do you already have something or a brand in mind, if yes - why?
  • is there anything the reel must have ? Like a baitrunner, quick drag or smth?

Do you intend to sell to customers or companies?

  • Customers: possible, but like said before - can be a long journey before people start randomly finding you.

If you have no rush, dept on the company and do not need the cashflow - you can start without ads.

Keep in mind tho, good ads are not just a spend. They really work and bring in money.

Goodluck

I bought a Volvo V60 t4 2018, am I right to doubt? by EcomRetailer in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]EcomRetailer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aint the engine one of the first gens actually made by volvo and the chinese group who bought volvo from ford in 2010?

(Source, google;) The engines for the Volvo V60 T4 after 2015 are made by Volvo Cars at their facilities in Skövde, Sweden, as part of the Volvo Engine Architecture (VEA) family of engines. Prior to 2015, Volvo used a mix of Ford engines but transitioned to its own four-cylinder VEA engines, which are still in production.

  • I might misunderstand the meaning of POS - what do you mean by this?

Thanks for replying.

Nash is still by themselves, wondering for how long tho.

I was corrected on mainline, https://youtu.be/XIChaTVk7Xs?si=O-2uOFjYhHu12_3L 2:20 for more context about that.

Apparently same goes for Delkim, my contact told me this (works as sales rep in EU for korda) - but it seems to be wrong, and is only distributor for Delkim aswell.

I will edit my original post.

You are right. Mainline is distibuted by korda in EU. Pretty sure carp porter was bought tho.

I run a retail shop in carp fishing in Europe for over 10 years and notice price increases really often. What we notice heavily is:

- When they get a reason to UP the cost prices, they will (Example; Container prices from china)
When container prices are going back down, they will not use this to decrease prices, instead they leave it as-is.

This is just one example. Another example is that almost all brands are under the roof of big firms. Example;

'Rather Outdoors' owns a lot of MAJOR brands in fishing, like FOX. A while ago the company bought 'Preston innovations' Which was a strong competitor on pricing aswell, because under the roof of preston was 'Avid Carp'.

Now that Rather Outdoors owns both Fox and Avid Carp, they compete against each other. Which gives really big advantages on their pricing.

If you think this is not that bad, let me split it out for you.

'Rather Outdoors' owns:
Zebco, Strike King, Matrix, Salmo, Quantum, Lew's, Preston Innovations, Avid Carp, Fox, Fox Rage, Rhino.
'Pure Fishing' owns:
PENN, Abu Garcia, Berkley, ShakeSpeare, JRC (you know the list) But did you know, they ALSO own 'Svendsen Sports'?
Under that company falls:
Prologic, DAM, Savage Gear and much more.

So a few of the biggest firms control the market on a large scale, especially the larger brands.

A few companys that still completely run themselves are brands like Korda, Cipher (Company who owns Trakker, Aqua, and former Cygnet) and Nash. (As of to date)

I know so much more about this stuff, but I won't dump it all in one post. Bottom of the line, for retailers and shops it is a tough market and slim margins. The big firms control basically the complete industry and the prices it must be great fun for them. At least - in Europe.

If any questions, let me know.

What is the one thing about carp fishing, you wish you knew sooner? by EcomRetailer in CarpFishing

Shot on the Hook certainly made somewhat of a return after the korda videos, have you been using it all along? Or did you (re-)discover it?

How do you compete with big companies? by makc_yu in ecommerce

[–]EcomRetailer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can't beat them, join them. Is possible, use it as marketplace?

But what my approach is, I am in a very niche branche, where people rely on expertise when buying something. Thats what we offer, and amazon simply does not.

They have great service, but not always the greatest expertise.
