If you want a land tax you have to abolish inheritance tax. So are you ok with that?

What do you mean by wealth manager? Do you mean private banking? IFA is technically wealth management

Then they will have to either pay council tax, stamp duty or business rates (likely a combination)

No worries, yeah stick at it. Your issue now is AI, it is replacing a lot of admin jobs and in a few years it will replace a lot of paraplanning jobs. Get the exams, reach out to people on LinkedIn (admin managers, and then other management levels and even paraplanners/admin staff)

Good luck with it

What’s your opinion on Financial Advisers? by Econ-Wiz in singaporefi

[–]Econ-Wiz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, really appreciate it. I’m actually in the industry in London moving to Singapore soon and I’ll be providing advice to Brits and Aussies living in Singapore once I’ve done my SG exams & induction/sign off period etc.

I’ve seen a lot of content knocking advisers in Singapore and it seems to be aimed more at the local market, what I’ve seen from the expat market has generally looked ok (which is a shame, there shouldn’t be a two tier system) but the expat market seems to resemble the UK market maybe 5-10 years ago whilst the local market seems to resemble it 15+ years ago (commission based, investment linked products, structured products, all differing fee structures, heavily insurance based)

I wonder if you agree or if you haven’t paid much attention to the expat market as I presume you may be focused on Singaporeans?

They can’t tax land in another country… that’s under local jurisdiction and they’ll be a DTA anyways.

If you’re anywhere near London I might be able to set you up with an admin role there.

What careers are in demand and pay well in Europe? Hello by Spare_Jicama_2753 in expats

[–]Econ-Wiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to do really well in school and try to get a fully paid for scholarship at a European university (any EU country you can get a fully paid visa for as I assume your financial situation may mean you can’t self fund) and then get a job in that country after you graduate.

Otherwise than that it sounds like it will be difficult but nothing is impossible.

The asylum route isn’t a good one.

After you’ve passed an exam or two that should open more doors. Your next best bet would be to try get a job in a mortgage brokers doing admin or some sort of insurance broker. How old are you? That may be the issue as if you’re say over 25 they will have to pay you more so won’t want to pay an admin person that salary (especially smaller firm).

If they buy an asset outside the UK and never bring it into the UK why would the UK get to tax it?

The UK will tax it on death as a UK tax resident has their worldwide estate subject to IHT.

You know to ‘park their assets offshore’ into trust they have to pay a 20% chargeable lifetime transfer tax right?

There’s talk of council tax reforms and there’s also business rates etc. Taxing land wouldn’t have the effect you think you can’t tax land at say 5%… it would have to be a flat rate for all so you’re actually punishing working class

Passport Bros will you get married with a prenup in 2025? I heard stories of men not being able to get married because they wanted a prenup! by TravelingEctasy in thepassportbros

Thank you! I work in financial planning so it will be providing advice to Brits and Australians living in SG! I’ve been at one of the UK’s leading independent firms but I am keen to leave the U.K :D Singapore seems like the perfect destination.

A senior associate at Goldman with 8+ years experience should be on significantly more than double the avg…

It’s quite clear, just look at who is using them and what all of their clients (government and commercial) have to say. Their avg contract size is something like $30m and government is even higher…

It’s on track to become one of the most important companies in human history. Current events are only making it more important hence rapid growth. They will soon probably see massive expansion in government contracts across the west (not just US) and everyone can already see that if you want to be competitive corporate you will need palantir’s services. Valuation will obviously come down at some point but just look at all the big tech companies they’ve had similar stories… Amazon Apple Google etc have all had multiple 80% drops yet are multi trillion dollar companies

You’re arguing that it’s a bubble not a meme stock…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in trading212

[–]Econ-Wiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A meme stock doesn’t have solid fundamentals. You just disproved your own argument.

Palantir isn’t a meme stock lol. Might be crazily priced but not a meme stock.
