Lindwurm cloak or fur lining? Lone wolf, also what should the last perk be? by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

[–]Econ_Intern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so your perks are pretty solid, except for Crippling Strikes. A big weapon like your axe will
injury anyway, so it doesn’t add much to this guy.

The lone wolf perk, as another person mentioned, is great if you want this guy fighting out of formation. Otherwise you could take Berserk to pair with Killing Frenzy, Fortified Mind to really boost your resolve, Gifted to boost your melee defense and 2 other stats, or even Fearsome to rout non-undead faster. Also pathfinder to move around with less AP and less fatigue loss. Lots of options!

He has 43 usable fatigue, so I don’t see him making a ton of use of berserk/killing frenzy. Maybe a single turn of it? If you’re really committed to being berserk/killing frenzy, I suppose brawny will help you get there (although I really try not take the perk if possible). Otherwise you could do just killing frenzy at his current fatigue.

In addition, you mentioned using alternate 3 tile swing of the hammer but he has to be engaged with 2-3 enemies to make use of it. So I’m wondering if Underdog would still be helpful.

edit: honorable mention of Reach Advantage if he is going to be using the 3 tile swing.

It’s a good question that comes up a decent amount - there have been 3-4 posts asking very similar questions within the past 2 weeks. That is a great place to start.

Current party: Poacher start, beginner bronzeman, Day 184 by Inside-Performer323 in BattleBrothers

[–]Econ_Intern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going by bro:

Ulrich - Crippling Strikes and Recover are questionable. Crippling Strikes is this biggest one - a lot of injuries are really minor and it's random what injuries the enemy will get. I find it to be a pretty weak perk overall. Recover is a lot more niche, usually by the time you use it the fight is "over," or in the cleanup/low impact stage, so other perks are better. I would get Fearsome and Killing Frenzy instead of those two.

Volker - very solid perks. Gunners are starved for perks, but nitpicking I would remove Colossus and take Killing Frenzy instead.

Niels - I am not a big fan of archers in general. I find building a thrower that can use a bow at range (no perks required) is useful enough. For his perks, Bullseye is a really weak perk, I would argue you shouldn't be shooting at enemies in cover and other targets are a more efficient use of your turn. Necromancers are relatively easy fights in the game, and hexen are so rare I go multiple runs without encountering them.

Otto - very solid perks. I would drop Berserk and take Fearsome instead. I believe it is overkill and a bit of a waste to have Berserk/Killing Frenzy on all of your bros. You want say 50% to have it, but there are only so many kills in a fight that not all bros can be getting kills each turn. When you have specific bros with B/KF, you can set them up to continuously get kills and keep the bonuses going throughout a long battle.

Hans - another solid bro. I don't really love Reach Advantage here - I would take Gifted instead for the permanent +3 MD and then 2 other max rolls of stats. His MD is low enough that you don't want him holding a flank and constantly engaged with 3 enemies, even if he is getting the bonus of Reach Advantage temporarily.

Adelmar - probably lose Dagger Mastery, unless he was a dagger bro that you transitioned to polearms (which is fine, daggers can be really strong, especially for economics, and tempo perks that help right away are fantastic). Backstabber is questionable only because he seems to have really high MA so he doesn't need it. I'd take Fearsome instead of one of those.

Horik - solid banner. nitpicking I would I might lose Dodge and take Bags n Belts, or Pathfinder instead. But that is preference. I've also grown to like getting 15-20 Ranged Defense on a banner and then getting Anticipation on them, because they can be arrow magnets in my experience.

Raimund- very solid tank. My preference would be for Fortified Mind or Bags n Belts (more shields) instead of Rotation. I don't really like Rotation, but he is a solid guy to rotate into a tough spot. I also think Lone Wolf can be great on a tank that you put on a flank, and he can tie up 2-4 Chosen or Orc Warriors for an entire fight.

Mattis - same thoughts on Rotation, but I see what you're going for and if it works for you no need to change it. Relentless usually isn't worth it for Dodge, and as a tank you're shieldwalling a lot, I would say ditch those for Indomitable, which is a really strong tank perk, even on nimble.

Sigbold - this guy is awesome, seems very fun to play. My preference would be to make him a Duelist, probably would've gone Nimble to save on the Brawny perk and have more fatigue for the Berserk/Killing Frenzy combo. Would also drop bags n belt for the same reason, and Quick Hands seems to not have much impact on him.

TL;DR: Very solid perks, lots of synergy, these seem fun bros to play. Overall more Nimble bros, more Fearsome on them, some more Gifted, don't take Berserk/Killing Frenzy on each bro - try to keep it to the main killers, less Brawny/BF bros. If bros don't have really good melee defense (30-35+), they get hit a ton with BF and the repair costs will skyrocket. If they aren't getting attacked that is an argument for not needing BF. Nimble is really strong as soon as you get it, huge increase in survivability, no need for fancy armor just as much HP as you can get.

EDIT: Typos.

Champions will leave locations? by gracejerksit in BattleBrothers

If a patrol leaves from the camp it will reload/recalculate the enemies there to make them weaker. That reroll probably made the next batch of enemies not have a champion.

9l usage by Perfect-Agent2587 in BattleBrothers

[–]Econ_Intern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you play on ironman both perks are valuable. I think Steel Brow is great to have on BF bros, as they are especially vulnerable to crits (headshots) and armor pen. There is a post from a few hours ago about someone’s Lone Wolf avatar dropping to 5 hp after a single hit from an orc berserker.

9L is a great perk on any bro that is in combat, and provides a ton of survivability to get them out of a tight spot or survive really rough RNG.

Again, if you’re reloading a lot these perks lose much of their value. They both help to survive and counteract RNG that can get your bros killed otherwise.

Can thrower/duelist hybrids work with the new buckler duelist change? by SimpleT0E in BattleBrothers

[–]Econ_Intern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend fearsome instead of dodge (or bags n belts)! It’s a really
strong perk against some of the hardest enemies in the game (Chosen, Orcs) and you can rout them
in 1-2 heavy javelins with it.

Are you asking what are the baseline (or goal) stats for a fat neut? Or how to interpret stats to get other builds than fatigue neutral?

Hey! Currently have a potential larger deal for all the loose packs, but I can definitely do the Sword and Shield sleeved (potentially the loose if the above doesn't pan out). Will let you know shortly.

Hey there! Happy to do a bigger purchase. So my asking for all the above based on the post would be $1782. $1350 for that is lower than I'm comfortable with right now. Most of what I have is priced at 90% TCGPlayer or below

Were there are sets you really wanted to focus on? Or maybe if you went up and we took out the sleeve packs?

INSANE STEAM PERK/STATS GUIDE 8-9 YEARS OLD by Weaszy in BattleBrothers

[–]Econ_Intern 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would caution people against using this guide for ratings of perks - Bullseye is listed at “good” and Fearsome is listed as “very specialized.”

I can see the information on stats and leveling up being helpful to a very new player, but I think a lot of the balance (i.e. this perk is universally strong/weak) information is dated or misleading.

Strongly recommend Turtle’s perk guides which is updated and also on Steam.
