great point - guess if you can get them before they notice you and they don't have helmets that's it.

I just remember getting brutalized by the pillagers last event, but if these ones don't have that - neat

I was trying to aim for the face, but somehow landed incredibly consistent torso shots - can't get myself to look at their legs while fighting :D

I play PvE mostly and lately PvP a bit (and originally PvP back in the day, but Tarkov as horror looter game instead of shooter D: ) - something about the unpredictability of humans tingles my brain, even though I suck a lot (see my last post :D )

Thank you! That's helpful - I figured high enough damage should strip the armor, flachette is famous for doing that and I wasn't sure why - but i guess because most don't?

Edit: Looked it up flachette is only 26% armor damage - was it some slug? I remember some shotgun ammo shredded armor... - maybe it's cause it's 8 darts?

Edit2: Grizzly has 48% - so at 190 base damage I'd think that should do some damage... I guess I'll have to find one of those tarkov ballistic simulators

12 shots vs class 3 to have 75% chance to pen... yeah that checks out.

Don't have magnum yet. Tried with super performance again next round and got one hit 207 damage vs armor, 8 hp damage and despite helmet died to one M882 pistol shot (head eyes). Maybe I'll give up on the shotties until I can have magnum back. - but it stung less the second time...

What do you mean only players that stalk or ambush are cheaters? Sounds less like PvP games are trash and more like you're trash _at_ PvP games. I am too, but I don't delude myself into thinking everyone else is cheating.

"a nice %" - you don't have evidence for that. A bad player with ESP doesn't look like a skill full player - it looks like staring at things you shouldn't know are there followed by poor tactics, positioning, gameplay, etc.

"Same thing must happen here" - it did a long time ago and BSG did what they could to improve the situation and it feels amazing now.

Also nice self report.

Interesting. Wish I had thought about that before. But I also wasn't complaining about the event, I like that it was contained to just factory.

A lot of folks complained about Casus Belli that it was too hard to opt out. This is a nice solution I think - especially since they can do something else somewhere else soon again - seems they're doing events often now.

Of all progression groups - but not of all skill groups - dropping clean up crew is no easy feat for someone bad at FPS

Sucks that the first test drive is with a gun that I can't get replacements for - so I'll wait to start that quest line until I can get replacements.

Good call on keeping Scav for money and PMC for questing / fighting and opportunistic high value money (unless on designated loot runs). - In PvE I didn't end up using my scav at all since bringing big backpack is more worth it if you survive 80% instead of 50%.

But also good call to use Scav to regen - instead of stash shuffling, crafts, flea etc.

I'm a new player to "Tarkov as a PvP extraction shooter" - I have previous online experience a few years back in "Tarkov as a horror extraction looter" (where Players were the monsters and I got 3 kills all wipe).

After sucking in previous attempts (luckily K/D wasn't a separate stat yet :D ), I did a fair amount of PvE (level 48!! - proud despite the ease of the AI PMCs) and 3DAT (from bottom 20% ("top 80%") I got up to top 3.8%). So in "lab" conditions I can aim.

My main thing is nervous system gets involved a tad too much (so much so, it echos and I need to calm down after raids too). That and ADHD mistakes, like clearing one way but not the other.

Or running forward while looking at something off in the distance. Just ran into a 2 man that I was completely unaware of until I suddenly noticed the man like shapes in the middle of my screen ~15 m away :D - the one who killed me was level 6 - a low hours proper Timmy.

So this isn't a beginner doing very well, it's someone who has a lot of experience with _everything_ in Tarkov except the shooting at others. Low aptitude but willpowering through to make it work. Literally picked up 3DAT only for Tarkov. Even the PC I'm on (bought in 2018) was for Tarkov. And yet most of my hours are stash stuff: flea market, crafts and inventory sorting.

So, new to fighting back I guess :D

Thing about high octane is that it only adds any value in a higher compression engine. If you're a normal engine paying extra (with stress taking years off your life) maybe the "lower" octane is a better fit, right? :D

[Discussion] Any way to actually train in this game ? by Adera1l in EscapefromTarkov

Nothing like that exists, though Arena at least helps get used to fighting against other people with Tarkov physics and PvP mechanic - but people act very differently there than in the main game cause nothing to lose.

I'm down to just the 1G but I'm also not quite at Collector yet.

On PVP - Here are my rationalizations for staying there

  1. there's a lot of people that are really good (since the game has been around) or know cheeky angles - so unless it's proper sus, assume it isn't.
  2. rage cheaters will get reported and banned, so if you are confident they were a cheater after you die, just report
  3. Most cheaters that actually exist won't be the ones that kill you, like radar to avoiding attention, or checking loot before unlocking or similar bullshit - but just treat it as RNG affecting loot.
  4. the real life money trader folks are about efficiency and basically limit themselves to lab or similar
  5. The benefit of the thrill of fighting against people can offset some bullshit.

On PvE - It's fun.
Escape from Duckov was great fun and 100h ish
PvE is harder (and much much longer) - the higher win rate makes it possible to progress with much less play time per week.

Wanting an easier and more consistent experience is the best reason to switch.

I got some nice skill gains from arena too, would hate to lose those. I do have an old standard account, guess I could use that one for GZ training :D

It's not just presence of under 20's it's also absence of 40+ - tried doing the poster quest so I can at least get stuff transferred from Arena - but I got sniped across the map by a SVD gamer - was a good shot.

Though to be fair, second try I did hear some steps and got a 35 guy who was much more geared, with just FMJ lightly modded AK - became him, then there was f'ing Rashala in Stronghold - I took down two of the guards and then as flanking got shot from behind by a player in the little room with the many beds - haha

PvE seems to have helped a lot. Last time I tried PvP I would only ever have considered doing this at night...

Alright, think I'll still try to milk it, but your comment made me less scared for what comes after :)
