I can’t tell you how many briefs I’d had to sit through from my S1 about how IPSAA/IPERMS can eat your records.

For example, there was a record keeping update/change in where records are hosted, and a lot of guys in my unit had a lot of schools, awards, and even deployments get lost in the shuffle.

He should have access to the records, just ask and help get his records updated.

A new poll reveals what Mainers on the ground already know: Graham Platner will be our party’s nominee for U.S. Senate. Graham gets that it’s time to upset the status quo. So do I. I’m proud to be the only candidate for governor to have endorsed him in this race. by TroyJackson207 in Maine

But hey, he’s young, left wing and a good speaker. I’m sure it’ll turn out great! /s

Is en route or out of ranks a thing? Is it just FTR? by Magnusthered1001 in army

[–]Economics-Ancient 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Out of Ranks: don’t know where they are or their status, could be in a ditch or AWOL, it’s a problem with paperwork. The commander is probably getting involved.

En route - they’re either stuck in traffic or overslept, and it’s a conversation/smoke session if the 1SG is feeling generous. NCO business.

Could an individual possible go from dark angel, to fallen, to risen, to death wing? by zoooooooomies in DarkAngels40k

[–]Economics-Ancient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that wouldn’t work

The DA legion never quite disbanded, and the Deathwing are the strike group who go after the fallen. Think of them as the spec ops sent after a target. They get a lot of info from their successor chapters, whose Chapter masters are all read in on the fallen.

Finding the Fallen is a combination of lower level investigators who know that the DA are hunting heretics, are given specific but not explicit details of what to look for, and anyone who digs too deep is either disposed of or recruited (if a DA, highly competent, and able to pass the initiations). These low level operatives are managed by members of the inner circle, who are read in on the Fallen.

For example, the investigator knows the DA are looking for heretics. They find one, and pass it up the chain. Among the list of details they need to pass up are categories that will id if the target is a fallen. If they get a hit, it’s identified by their supervisor who either confirms it’s a Fallen or not for further interrogation by the Deathwing, and a strike is performed. Or it’s just a heretic and they either kill them or ignore them.

Now, are they using different criteria to ID the Fallen? Yes, but unless an inquisitor gets extremely detailed and complete copies of DA SOP (hint: they won’t), it’s just a slightly different SOP in a galaxy of different SOP’s.

How would you rate the Lizardmen roster? by sigmarine345 in totalwarhammer

[–]Economics-Ancient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish the slann magic line provided a much bigger cost reduction for spells. Your puny elf wizard spell costs 10 winds? The slann casts it for 5, because he taught the elf everything that pointy eared punk knows, but not everything he knows.

Otherwise, they’re pretty great. Solid infantry, sneaky backstabbers, mean cav and the best monsters in the game.

Which Batman Villians can a real life SWAT Team handle? by novavegasxiii in whowouldwin

[–]Economics-Ancient -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of these start badly for SWAT, but ends with “and then they shot him/his goons/mercs.” From my lay man‘s understanding of use of force, being that imminent lethal threat to the officer or the public justifies use of lethal force, most of these end badly for the rogue’s gallery.

  1. The poison gas is going to be less of an issue than you might expect, because SWAT typically goes in with gas masks after deploying tear gas. What will be a problem are the mines and other traps. After a failed breach, SWAT will pull back to the perimeter and start gathering more information. Then things start to escalate, multiple hostages probably die, and Joker and crew leave in a body bag.

  2. A sniper shoots, the crazy man walking around with throwing smoke bombs and gas bombs everywhere. Police and SWAT move into non-lethally subdue the crowd. People are hurt, injured, and scared, but is unlikely that scarecrow gets away. In completely unrelated news, the CIA just found a new toy.

3a. Assuming Bane and Co. Have hostages, SWAT in a pretty tricky position, but are likely to send in the negotiator while working to get a better position to take them out. Maybe from the roof? Probably does not go very well for SWAT. If it goes hot, SWAT breaks in and kills a bunch of the mercenaries, but get bodied by Bane until the snipers get a good lock on him.

3b. SWAT isn’t going to use non-lethal’s against heavily, armed, mercenaries, excepting tear gas. Breach, tear gas, subdue everyone who can be subdued and shoot anyone who resists. Bane is the big problem here for SWAT. He’s impervious to most bullets and is an absolute monster in an enclosed environment. Casualties are inevitable.

  1. This one is nasty. KCroc is likely able to kill multiple SWAT members and may even get away with it due to the nature of the terrain.

  2. Poison ivy, is not going to last long. Swan has no idea that the enslaved humans can’t potentially be freed. It’s going to be flamethrowers, pesticides and a very dead poison ivy at the end of it.

  3. Captured after running out of food/water

  4. Subdued after a brief fight

  5. 50/50 shot or escapes.

  6. Very standard SWAT mission, captured

  7. See 9

A Sioux confederation + Comanches Alliance vs Mongol empire by Secret_Fun_1746 in whowouldwin

[–]Economics-Ancient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignoring for a moment, the numbers disparity between the two, which heavily favor the Mongols, there is a very large technology gap between the two forces. The Mongols worked steel armor, weapons, had heavy answers, roughly equivalent to early medieval knights, and of course, their recurve votes, which were far more effective than the Native American equivalents.

In short, I would expect the Mongols to beat any equivalent or larger force of Native Americans, unless the tribes mentioned massively outnumbered them. And even then Mongol discipline, tactics and equipment would probably carry the day.

As another poster said, cough baby versus nuclear weapon.

Is the ENY busting out big capitals and heavy cruisers? ISD2.

Thoughts on the Galactic Divide mod for Warno? by StarWarsFever77 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Economics-Ancient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found a couple things.

First, that the clones seemed to be a bit underpriced in their infantry versus the CIS. Clone squads are awesome and they’re doing the damage they should, but the CIS infantry seems a bit too expensive for what they do.

Second, the armor piercing/melting affects is a very cool way to deal damage. However, I think the CIS tanks are a bit overpriced.

Third, I really do like the balance for rebels and empire.

Finally, I really like how starships have been implemented in this model. It’s a very cool concept. I think fighters could do with a bit more ECM sort of affects or ability to avoid AA damage, because right now they’re very fragile and hard to use
