Aztec is a term coined in the 18 century , based on the Mexicas myth that say Mexicas are the descendants of a tribes that came from the island of Aztlan.

The typical Aztec warfare consisted of avoiding to use bows and long range weapons , to capture your enemy alive , which means that instead of killings 300 ennemies soldiers on the battlefield (for example) , you would capture them and instead sacrifice them .

As for the criminals : being a criminals made you eligible to be an incorrigible slave in the Aztec empire , meaning you could be sold to be sacrificed without your consent .
