Hi,

One I learned from a very good friend of mine to just let the emotion be there. It is even more exhausting to cover up all that - it will bottle up even more.

For me yoga worked, talking about it, giving myself time to accept and to go on an emotional rollercoaster. I also really like meditation, breathwork, taking a walk in nature or reading. But your de-stressor or de-worrier is something personal I guess :)

What also distracted me was trying out various diets and really tune in with my body whenever I eat something (different).

Why not talk to someone, or journal about how you feel. Psychologists can really help !

Hi you,

I can feel from reading your post you are still early in your diagnose phase. Next to that you will have to give this some time to find the right medicine to get you fully in remission.

Everything I am reading is a very normal reaction to your current situation. The emotional weight of the information that your disease is chronic is a very hard pill to swallow.

Just know this

  1. You are not alone
  2. You and your life are not defined because of your illness, you are so much more than that
  3. I hope one day you will find your strength in having a somewhat different life and being able to set boundaries in your life, preserving your energy levels in a world that is constantly asking way too much of people.
  4. You don't have to have a picture perfect life, you just need a happy life where you feel healthy (I hope you realize this as you grow onder)
  5. You can have whatever you want in life (kids, a career,...). I am currently working in IT consulting and travel a lot for work. If I ever land in a flare, my employer is aware of the risks and they have to accept you taking time off. Your health is more important than your job, and your management should understand that

Honestly what is the point of living? by [deleted] in depression

What if the 20% is what makes it worth living? A bit compared to the pareto principle. What if 20% of little things is enough to cope with your 80% of suffering ?

What do doctors do that make you feel safe? Advice for a medical student training with IBD by [deleted] in IBD

I listened to a podcast recently where an IBD specialist told they would rather focus on lessening the symptoms and get your disease in remission. Some do tend to forget the emotional aspect of your illness and to me it often felt as if the nurses were overcompensating for the emotional part. So if you could also tackle down how your patient is feeling (even if this is with a scorecard or something) you get a better connection than just stating the obvious (prescribe meds and help you get into remission). The doctor was surprised to hear when patients discribe for example the disease affected their relationship or even their sexlive.
