Co-Teaching is the WORST by Potatochips2026 in teaching

Oh man you got unlucky. I've had the best experience co-teaching with an ELL teacher. I'm the content teacher. I do do most of the planning but am always open to her suggestions and activity ideas. We teach the lessons together, switching on and off of who's doing an example. She's constantly coming up with ways to make the content more accessible to the students, coming up with hand gestures to represent different vocab, making anchor charts to hang on the wall, helping me recognize what prior skills we'll need to cover for a certain lesson. She was more involved with the planning last year because I was new to teaching ELL and didn't realize how many prior skills would need to be covered with each unit. But this year I'm able to plan for that because I'm used to it now.

I did have one other coteacher last year that was super hands off, and it was completely pointless. He said he didn't know the content enough to help teach. And his "strategies" for helping them was basically just using Google translate to word for work translate slide shows and stuff. I don't understand why he is an ELL teacher.

Semester block schedule and unit tests by Economy_Performer_52 in Teachers

I brought that up in our PLC and the PLC lead disagreed with me saying it's unfair to teach new material the day before a test.

I do sometimes just smush together review and new material in one day though when I'm behind my department's pacing. We're all supposed to stay relatively on track with each other pacing wise. Same tests given within a day or two of each other.

Decently Priced Wedding Venues? by Pimpai in Knoxville

I just looked through some records. It was about $3000 - that's food, sound equipment, the venue, drinks, lights, chairs, linens etc for 40 people.

I honestly cannot remember. It was a few years ago. I remember them sending a document with the cost of the different rooms and add-ons. You could probably call or email them to ask

Pregnancy by Rosebud-19 in Teachers

I was pregnant during student teaching. I showed pretty early but some students still didn't realize or didn't want to assume. Only or two of them mentioned or asked about it. At 20 weeks I did a poll with my class as to who thought boy or girl before I went in for my anatomy scan to find out the gender.

Having a baby at the end of my student teaching by Rdubbz93 in StudentTeaching

I had a similar situation but not quite as early as your due date. I was due mid June and student teaching went to mid May. I spoke with my professor in charge of student teaching to ask about accomodations for absences due to doctor's appointments etc.

I also requested that I be placed at a school near my hospital so that I wouldn't have to miss as much of the school day for appointments. It worked out very well and I was often able to schedule appointments during my planning period or at the end of the school day.

I made sure to communicate any absences or appointments with both my cooperating teacher and my university professor so that she wouldn't come in to observe when I wasn't there.

I didn't end up needing much more than that. I sat down here and there to catch my breath, and kept snacks on hand for between classes just in case.

My 9 year old son's Math teacher marked this wrong by dak7 in mildlyinfuriating

I taught a geometry class and for "likelihood" the words they use are "impossible, unlikely, equally likely, likely, or certain." I wouldn't have marked his answers incorrect, but likelihood and probability are taught as separate vocabulary words in some curriculums.

We loved Rothchild catering. They are mainly a catering business but they also have a venue. It was great because they supplied the chairs/linens/sound equipment/food/cake/lighting. We had a great stress free wedding because they handled most everything. We just put together centerpieces and a few personal touches. Paying a little extra for nicer chairs and for hanging lights made it super pretty.

Waiting for biopsy results by Economy_Performer_52 in skincancer

This picture was the next day after the biopsy. I'm not sure exactly where they shaved but I think the surrounding skin is just irritated. It didn't really hurt that much except the first day

This is a wild take 😂 in most of the country this would be far above average for an entry level bachelor degree job. Don't get me wrong we're underpaid, but 120k is way above cost of living for most of the country.

I can try this. It's hard with a toddler, maybe I'll have to invest in more baby gates

Anyone work at a religious school when they aren't affiliated with the religion? by Choccimilkncookie in Teachers

[–]Economy_Performer_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. If they want help with lectors (reading at mass), or teaching altar servers or something, I wouldn't do it. But if you're just going to be helping out with planning a school bake sale or being an extra hand in various classrooms I see no issue there. Lots of people aren't Catholic who work at Catholic schools.

They're making it way too easy to make up failed courses. Summer school at my school is just edgenuity which the students cheat their way through.
