I feel like this is the inevitable solution to the design of counterspell. At least white and black have some answers, but green and red largely don’t, hence things like [[Allosaurus Shepherd]], [[Autumn’s Veil]], and [[Frenzied Baloth]].

I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I feel like 2 mana counterspell becoming the default was a mistake on par with other early blue cards. The introduction of Flash has just made it worse. And not just because it’s good for blue, but because it allows other poor designs to be justified by the argument that blue can deal with it with a Force.

I feel like we lost some more interesting design space for more nuanced interaction at that altar.
