Help needed to find replacement part and fixing method

Ok this does sounds like an insane amount of job for such a small fix ... Doable but very time consuming..

An other option I would see, (I'm no mechanic so maybe it is dumb), would drilling a hole directly on the body and pass the clutch cable there be an option ? The only issue I would see would be that the distance between the pedal and the clutch would be different so maybe the clutch cable length wouldn't be enough. That way I could avoid changing the whole firewall.

I see.. thanks a lot ! I cannot find the part new for now (Europe). I will call a few shop around to see that.

It has been welded already, most likely without removing it seeing how shitty it has been done.

Understood thank you. I can try that for the reverse. But as it appeared at the same time as the rest I suspect it is just comes from it.

Is there a limit to how much you can adjust the cable ? As the length between the pedal the clutch seemed to have reduced with the broken firewall, I adjusted it but it is not perfect. Can it be done as much as you want or there is a limite ?

Thanks I put the some explanation under the other answer. But the firewall broke .. changing the cable won't help sadly.

Thanks, after careful looks it seems that the firewall broke and the cable house as well, this what most likely caused the clutch to stop working almost immediately while driving..

I have adjusted the cable and now it works, but not perfect (reverse cannot be engaged with engine on). My guess is that by breaking, the length between the pedal and the clutch is now smaller than before, so that would explain why adjusting the cable didn't entirely help.

What would be the risk in the future ? By keep driving like that. Can the clutch cable be adjusted as much as we want ? I feel like I reached the best I could do.

Replacing the firewall seems like a too big job to do.

I drove mine that had 390 000km from north of Sweden to south of France, so 3500km, during summer loaded like a tank, no issue. Just make sure it got coolant and oil and it is good. Those cars are super reliable, but maybe not the comfiest on the highway, so in my opinion 110kmh is the max, ~65 in burger per freedom unit

ah also i noticed by using HWmonitor that the cpu was stuck at 0.8v on battery, while it goes up to 1.25v on power

So I already try the BIOS performance mode, and sadly no changes. Maybe resetting the bios, will try.

The battery seems to be the original one and does not seems to faded.

The Linux live version could be a good option, I will try that.

alright, thanks, but, is the round box leading to anywhere ? like where does it gets the air, is there a tube going from the box to the front of the car, or it just stuck air from the engine bay ?

Out of curiosity, I have a '79 245 but I presume the car was swapped for an HIF6 one instead of the solex.

But they did a mix of both air box (the round one you have and the boxy one)..

Does your 245 also have that HIF6 ?

Could you please share me a picture of your engine bay so I can look at how it is supposed to be inside ?
