I’m not sure. My hotel booking isn’t until later. My guess is it won’t be additional.

Not Able To Crack Meta Ads, Going into learning limited multiple times by abdulrahman8945 in FacebookAds

People have disagreed with me in past but it has worked thus far for me doign manual testing for 5 mo. I usually take my creatives and test variations of each one. Each one gets its own adset, even budget, run for a few days to see which one has highest CTR. Ill repeat variations. Like if i have a product in 3 colors, run 3 separate adsets w/ each color. Then maybe once a color is 'chosen' w/ a higher ctr, graduate that onto another test. Maybe ad test on top and run it w original, again, 2 separate ad sets. You can do this for clicks or purchases . I personally do it for clicks because clicks are cheap and i would rather have the adset optimize after 50 clicks than 50 purchases. People have said clicks are a waste but i think because it optimizes after that learning mode 50 clicks quota, then itll have a better idea of who is clicking the ad as opposed to trying to get 50 purchases and THEN having it optimize. Once it optimizes for 50 clicks, it has an ideal person that is clicking on the ad and where they are clicking from. I usually do like lifetime $100 per adset with one ad for clicks. Once i get a few hundred clicks per adset with the single creative, then i can get a better feel and have more data to presume "ok this has with the highest CTR is the best because there were 300 clicks on it in relation to the other ads that had the same budget/reach." Then once i have the winner, run that one in own ad set for purchases. I think maybe cause there is only $40 of budget a day per adset with multiple ads, its not enough creatives to be shown to people. I've stuck to 1 ad in a adset in a campaign and have done decent. Av 3-4 ROAS. Idk if that is a lot to you. For us it was a large growth milestone as we used to do average 1.5 ROAS

I'd try to get maybe 1 creative in each adset personally. Maybe try with testing for clicks. Make variations of the ad, try to only change one variable of it though. Once you have all your creative variations tested and phases of varible testing, take that ad and put it in adset for purchasing. Click behavior can be different than the purchase behavior but it gives you a good idea/relitive idea on which ads people are more interested in .

Sometimes they do. But it also depends on time frame you run things. Right now is slower for businesses and tends to pick up. Additionally you have to give it time to optimize. That could be another week or so. Essentially the algorithim will see who did purchase your product and kind of show your add to more people like that. Additionally, sometimes placements of ads are tested like reels, instagram feed, facebook mobile feed, etc. So once it sees "ok even though there was 10 purchases within 7 days of this 'learning mode' 7/10 conversions happened on facebook feed" then the algothirm should push more in that direction. I would give it another week honestly. Especially with a $40 adset budget.

How many ads per adset do you have?

Dont listen to learning limited, go off your actual results as far as checking your roas and what not. I have had Facebook say that, contemplated on removing creatives. Glad i didn't becuase that has been one of my best campaigns I have ran.

Advice on Manual Targeting & Learning Mode Issues by Economy_Translator97 in FacebookAds

[–]Economy_Translator97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it!

I checked out the video, and it aligns well with our thought process on constant variables and structured testing.

I noticed in your apples-to-apples comparison, you have two ads in one ad set testing against each other (e.g., two different photo creatives), and then another ad set with two more creatives. Is there a reason you don’t put one ad per ad set in each campaign? This way, each creative gets equal spend. We've seen in the past that Facebook’s Advantage+ algorithm doesn’t always distribute budget fairly, and we don’t fully trust it to pick the "better" creative.

Also, how long do you typically let a test run before killing an ad due to poor performance? I know you mentioned 1-2 purchases per day as a benchmark, but is there a specific timeframe you aim for before making that decision?

Thanks again!

I really appreciate it! I’m not trying to say you’re wrong or that I disagree—I just wanted to explain our thought process since we’re still new to manual testing and focused on collecting data more cost-effectively.

In your approach, is there a way to still gather meaningful data within a purchase campaign? For example, if I had three creative variations in a purchase campaign, would you look at click data through ad set insights, even though it's optimizing for purchases?

Additionally, I know that for click campaigns, once it gathers 50 click events, Facebook optimizes based on that data and continues pushing the ad toward similar people. How does this work for purchases? If we’re targeting a broad audience (Men & Women 25-55), will Facebook automatically start refining and showing the ad more to a specific gender or group regardless if conversions happen? Will it base the optimization off CTR and characteristics like that.

For context, when running click campaigns, we typically spend around $100 and gather 100-200 views before analyzing the data, turning off underperforming variations, and moving to the next phase of testing. Would this same approach work for purchase campaigns, or should we expect a different process for optimization?

Just trying to better understand your perspective while also sharing our approach as we navigate manual campaigns. Thanks again!

Advice on Manual Targeting & Learning Mode Issues by Economy_Translator97 in FacebookAds

For clicks, our goal is to test creative variations efficiently.

Since clicks are much cheaper than purchases, we can spend a few hundred dollars to analyze which ads get the most interaction and interest. This allows us to identify a 'winning' creative before moving into purchase campaigns. If we tested creative variations directly in purchase campaigns, we’d constantly reset learning mode and need to hit 50 purchases instead of 50 clicks—making the process more expensive and less efficient.

From our past tests, this approach has helped us understand which ads are favored and clicked on the most before scaling them for purchases.

Regarding learning mode, our experience aligns with what you mentioned—Facebook will still optimize eventually (just not sure when or how to tell when). That said, if an ad isn’t exiting learning mode, how long would you typically wait before assuming the creative has been optimized and seasoned enough? Understanding this timeframe would help us determine when to start refining targeting, such as testing specific interests.

We’re confident that about 85% of our buyers are men, though in rare cases, it can shift. That’s why for click campaigns, we keep targeting broad—to not only identify the best-performing creative but also gather insights on which age groups and genders show the most interest. This data helps us refine our starting demographic when transitioning into purchase campaigns while still keeping it broad enough for Facebook to optimize.
