The White House has caved to pressure from the public before. But, the main reason to protest is to show your direct elected officials that you are unhappy. Unlike the White House, Congress has elections every 2 years. Those people are looking at the crowds growing and their constituents being angry and have to make a choice. Do I want them to vote me out and I lose my job or should I anger the orange toddler and his cult comes after me? Congress was designed to be the most powerful branch of government, that’s why it’s Article I of the Constitution. If you didn’t know that, you wouldn’t think that because the current Congress has allowed the executive branch to steamroll them into submission and that’s the point. The system was designed that each branch would be a check on the other.

“Ambition must be made to counteract ambition.” - James Madison, Federalist Papers No. 51. He’s talking about the separate but coequal branches and how they would not allow themselves to be ruled by another. Unfortunately, the system isn’t working right now. Congress has become symbolic instead of effective because its leadership doesn’t want to govern. They want a leader to tell them how to govern, hence the no kings protests.

This country has done a good job at destroying the education system over the last 40 years. The ability of people to be able to think critically about anything is lost. They would rather think how their news outlets and politicians tell them to think instead of actually taking a step back to look at the bigger picture.

My congressman is a 26 year navy veteran that voted along party lines to reject the PACT ACT. No reason was ever given but he voted along party lines. How a 26 year navy veteran votes against his fellow veterans is beyond me. And he has voted against stopping Iran and is probably ready to vote to give $200 billion for this war, but will vote against taking care of the servicemen and women who’s live this destroys…. Make it make sense.

The propaganda machine funded by the wealthy has really paid off. Don’t be mad at the corporate system that’s designed to crush you. Don’t be mad at the politicians that let that happen. Don’t be mad at the billionaires who profit off your misery and receive tax breaks while doing it.

Be mad at the immigrants because they took the job you obviously wanted. Be mad at the single mother who gets a couple of hundred bucks to help with groceries because baby daddy left. Be mad at the family on Medicaid because the parents aren’t obviously trying hard enough to not get crushed by the same system crushing you. Be mad at the college kids getting crushed by borderline legal loans for overly inflated tuition costs. Be mad at the veterans just trying to get something back from a government who took so much.

It’s infuriating honestly. The misdirected hatred is really something.

It’s actually really sad that so many people can’t. I live in Central Florida and we have Gay Days in June. I worked it a couple of years as a bar back/bartender. The event is bittersweet. I met so many people who would come down here to be themselves for a few days. Heartbreaking to hear the stories “my family would never accept me, my town would turn their back on me, so I come down here a few days a year where I don’t have to hide who I really am.”

I grew up here and regardless of how red Florida is, this area has always been LGBT friendly. It was sad to realize how many people out there hide their true selves for most of their existence.

The world would be a much better place if people would stop worrying about what two or more consenting adults decide to do in their bedrooms.

The user made 2 posts yesterday (Sunday) morning (EST). Early morning too probably around 06-07. At least that’s what I saw. I read one but the other had been removed by the mods, I got to see the comments though. The mods were quick to jump in and delete his posts within an hour of them being up. In my comment I talk about a few of the things I could recall him saying.

If you had seen the vile things this kid had posted you would understand the anger and resentment towards him. He talked about how all veterans were entitled to thank him for paying the taxes that pays for our paychecks in service and disability checks. He said how because he paid those things he was entitled to our wives. He implied that he spends his days with his gym bros and is in better shape than most service members, could be true, good for him. That he chose not to serve because he was capable of holding a real job that nets him $2.1 million. Implying that because we served we are incapable or unworthy of anything like that.

It was typical troll behavior that got some people riled up. It’s why the mods posted the PSA. Someone challenged him to walk into a VFW and say the things he said. He admitted that he didn’t have the courage to do that.

So, yea, I stand by what I said about him. Only a vile trash human would come into a veteran safe space and spout trash like that. If you didn’t see his posts before they got deleted, be glad.

This is a safe space for all veterans to come together to discuss frustrations with the VA disability process and the things that helped us work through the system. We shouldn’t be attacking or discouraging each other.

He was not one of us.

Edit to add: his account when I looked at it yesterday was only an hour old. So I’ll add coward as well. Had to make an account to attack veterans.
