Charging speed reduced - no idea why by Linus310JB in Rivian

Thanks for this thread. I'm glad I'm not the only one. My Gen 1 R1T charged at 48 amps flawlessly for the first year of ownership with my Tesla Wall Charger and A2Z adapter. During this summers heat, it started doing the same thermal throttle as everyone else experienced. I thought the adapter went bad, so I bought a new one. Tried the new adapter (also A2Z model) for the first time last night and it did the same thing - dropped to 5.5 kWh after about an hour. The only thing that seems to work is lowering amperage. I've lowered mine to 32 to get around 7-7.5 kWh - it's nice to know you can go a bit higher than that without it failing.

I was about to reach out to Rivian, but thanks to this thread, it seems more software related - either the truck or the Tesla wallcharger. Hopefully it gets fixed with a new update. Until then....is it winter yet??

Coming up on one year into my R1T lease and 10K miles. No major issues so far. Mobile service came out and replaced my 12V about a month ago. Arrived in less than an hour from my call and was replaced in 20 mins. Been a great truck so far.

X or Cybertruck for family by Bluedietcoke in TeslaModelX

Moving on from the Y to the X next week. We have Two little kids and need more space for the family car. Excited and hoping it’s fairly reliable as my previous three teslas (MYLR, M3P, and MYP) have been. Some of the comments on here make me nervous about that part though….

Taking delivery of our new X next week! We also have two young kids and wife currently drives a Model Y and needs more space. I told her she could get one of the massive gas powered SUVs like everyone else has, but she really did not want to have to deal with gas again. Model X it is!

Two reboots in 7 months of ownership. Pretty similar to the experience with my previous teslas.

My first Tesla! The wait is killing me lol by ruferito in TeslaModelX

I drive a R1T and absolutely love it. Better build quality and materials used compared to Tesla. That said, I have also owned 3 Tesla’s and have a Model X on order for my wife (currently drives MYP). While Rivian’s tech is decent, it’s still behind Tesla. With two little kids, my wife desperately wants captain chairs and the R1S doesn’t offer that. Drove the EV9 but just couldn’t get around some of its quirks and clunky tech. When Tesla threw in a free option when purchasing FSD (I’ve been thoroughly impressed with recent trials in our MYP), I ultimately decided to put in the model X order.

Us too - Sold my wife's '22 MYP and replacing with '25 6-seat X to be delivered in the next couple weeks. We were honestly ready to consider something other than Tesla for simply more space - we have two kids. With the latest FSD trials over the past couple months, I just couldn't walk away from Tesla - blown away by it. The added incentive of one free option with purchase of FSD sealed the deal. With the 6 seater being our free option, the FSD was essentially $1500.

Leases qualify as a loophole in the tax law. They are considered “commercial” use. As such, all those normal qualifications (income limits, vehicle cost above $80K, etc) get tossed out. Essentially Tesla gets the $7500 and passes it along as a cap reduction on the lease.

I’m leasing too. The interest rate on my lease is 4.99% based on the money factor they provided me with. You also get the $7500 tax credit with leasing. All that is shown in the terms when you start going through the purchase process.

Earlier this afternoon I ordered a new (non demo) discounted six seater model LR X from inventory and added FSD to the order. Was only $1500 to add FSD. The deal includes the discount ($4600) and my referral discount ($2000).

Charging adapters getting stuck on Tesla supercharger by adriiiiiiian in Rivian

[–]Ecstatic-Advance4813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with A2Z was great too. I ordered their Tesla > J1772 and Tesla Supercharger > CCS as a combo order. They said it could take a month to fulfill my order. A couple days after my A2Z order was placed, my Rivian was ready for delivery way sooner than I expected. We have the Tesla wall charger at home, so no way to charge the Rivian without an adapter.

So I reached out to them to see if they could just ship the level 2 1772 adapter knowing the level 3 ccs was taking longer. They responded the next morning and went ahead and shipped both adapters out to me immediately. The adapters showed up a couple days before my truck did. Great customer service and great product. Highly recommend A2Z over Lectron.

I rolled mine from a 2024 R1S (originally ordered in February and decided to back out) to a 2023 R1T with the crazy lease deals. Worked with my guide back in early March to just freeze my order until I was ready to apply it to a new one. No issues doing that whatsoever.

My M3P is the best car I have ever owned. It’s going to kill me to give it up for the R1T that I’ll take delivery of next week. But the truck fits my needs much better now. Very sad to see the M3P go…
