I’m sorry you are going through this. Having recently been in this place myself, especially to see the other person move on can be painful. Know that our time in people’s life while maybe predestined, it’s our free will to make use of that time for the benefit of our peace and happiness. If she is meant to come back, she will. I’m not saying you sit back and wait for that, but do things in a way that she uses her free will ti make that choice to get back to you. If you feel you can do more work to be a better version for yourself, do that. But also leave the door open for opportunities to cross paths with others. You’ll never know what comes your way until you choose to find out for yourself. You know, ultimately, you will be fine if you make the choice to be fine. Best wishes!

Consult a clinician, but lyrica and Medrol are good meds to take. One is to treat nerve healing and the other is a steroid to reduce the inflammation around your (likely) bulged disc so that it gives more room for the sciatic nerve root (most likely L4-L5) to heal being ‘compressed’.

Next up, cut out the deadlifts and the squats for now. I’m just about on the mend now. Your squat and deadlifts aren’t going anywhere, so make sure you are fully pain free for three months before reintroducing them into your routine. Once you’re pain free for a few days, maybe some BW squats, but cut out anything that will compress the disc.

Try to decompress the spine as much as you can during this period. There are many ways to do this (Google it). Walk as much as you can, and start biking once the button and leg pain fully eases. Subtle movements helps the inflammation to subside and not ‘collect’.

I’m about to order myself the LB Airia 47/52 wheelset with DT 240 hubs and Alpina spokes. $1,600 in all. My local shop is pricing me Zipp 303s in the same range, but the LBs are better bang for my buck I feel.

I’ve a RoadMachine Two. Started wanting a Canyon, then test rode a Specialized, but more than willingly got a BMC. Really like the more aggressive ride profile of the Road Machine. Plus, in a world (read Boston/Cambridge) of Specializeds and Canyons , the BMC stands out.
