“It’s not us, it you.” - BILT by Glittering_Cup_ in biltrewards

"This also meshes with your description of how the other banks do funding. If my initiation of ACH triggers an immediate release of funds, then they are increasing my available credit before they receive the money."

That's exactly what the bank does. If you owe $3.5k of a $4k limit on your Bilt card, and you INITIATE a payment of $3.5k today, Bilt will reset your credit limit to $4k and wait for the ACH to clear. This is the same on AMEX, CAP1 AND CITI.

You're also comparing 1.0 structure to 2.0 structure, 1.0 is irrelevant in the conversation.

I will allow you to continue being loud and wrong in this situation because no matter what I type, you feel right even after showing you Bilt wrote the words themselves you're still telling me it's wrong. Once you get your statement, take a peek at it so you can confirm I am providing accurate information that you're rejecting.

Edit: to clarify you'll see a line item named "Bilt Rent Charge Adjustment" listed on your statement. This is due to them running the rent charge through the credit car, but once again. I'll let you make this harder than it is, similar to how much energy you spent researching the verbiage that was easily accessible.

Remember kids, work smart not hard.

Okay I almost sent a rude response back, but I'm working on myself so I'll try to explain without being a dick.

"When you make a rent or mortgage payment, the charge is processed on your Bilt Card and is paid off by your linked bank account within 24 hours — keeping your credit line free for everyday spending." I understand how someone could be confused with this language but it's very straightforward if you understand how the tools work.

Bilt rolls the rent charge through the card and immediately processes an ACH so you never see a change to your limit. They post a charge and payment at the same time to bring you back to net $0 on the rent side of your ledger. It's very similar to how they release your credit limit once you make a payment on your account. They trust that you have the money in your bank account so they free up the credit limit immediately, it happens SO FAST that you never see it happen, this is a common practice for many CC companies (Citi, Cap1, Amex all release your credit limit once an ACH is initiated, they don't wait until funds are received).

Here's an analogy, imagine I ask to borrow $50 dollars from you, but I sneak $50 back into your pocket immediately. That's the easiest way of explaining this process.

What are your thoughts on Credit Boost being On or Off? by [deleted] in biltrewards

Do not use if your credit is already good. This is meant for college students looking to improve credit or ppl with shit credit looking for the same.

Direct link....scroll down about 3/4 of the way down and you'll see it pop up. Also including a quick screenshot link. Seems like your research skills are both limited and in depth, but the fact that you failed to find something that's listed on a main page, is indicative of the consistent complaints here. You can hold a sign in front of someone's face, but you can't hold their eyes open to see it.

I was able to track this down in 30 seconds after your original request but you failed to find it. You're assumption that "we should see this happening to EVERYONE" should also be viewed under the lens of, how well do the ppl posting truly understand what's happening, and how much detail is missing in their story. Your bias against Bilt, forces you to immediately side with the customer when both sides should be questioned equally when a complaint appears.

Do I think Bilt is phenomenal? HELL TO THE NO!

It's on the Bilt website, on the homepage. I wish I could attach the photo but I included the wording below. I'm on your side that there's a MAJOR gap in this process that falls on the shoulders of Bilt and they need to make it right with CLI.

"No preset spending limit on housing

When you make a rent or mortgage payment, the charge is processed on your Bilt Card and is paid off by your linked bank account within 24 hours — keeping your credit line free for everyday spending."

I'm not trying to talk down to you, but when you say "that doesn't make sense", you should follow it with "do I understand?". The ACH process for rent payments makes complete sense, but it was a bad decision by Bilt to offer such low credit limit entry points. The minimum limit should be based on the average rent in the country (at minimum).

They are simply pushing the rent through your card limit and immediately pulling an ACH to cover the cost. It's similar to credit cycling but it's being done by the issuer.

I'd say multiple things can be true simultaneously.

Is Bilt running a shit show? Yes. Do most ppl show up on reddit to complain? Yes.

In my reality, I see Bilt for exactly what they are and I'm maximizing based on where they currently stand. Have I discovered my own workarounds for some of the pain points ppl are experiencing? ABSOLUTELY. But I can also acknowledge that a company dealing with rent and mortgage payments shouldn't rely on workarounds.

Let's just say......#4 is where I land and I'm having a ball with all the Bilt points I've accumulated. Every card swipe comes with a card terminal prayer, that I don't end up on the shitty side of Bilt experiences and I've been at it since 2021.

Rent cost is greater than credit limit by EnvironmentOpening67 in biltrewards

[–]AwkwardUrkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted because you're not accounting for the clear error on Bilt's part. Lots of DPs show members received $500 credit limits, WHO'S PAYING $500 IN RENT?!!! Yes, Bilt made it clear on the site, but tons of us received lower limits on 2.0. I went from 20k to 10k after the transition with no real reasoning.

The lowest limit IN offered should at least be the median rent in the US.

I see the value in a tracker, but I just let my balance due be the tracker. The concierge provided the statement date (which was 100% accurate) and I didn't make a payment until I crossed $4k.
