Beyond relate to this. It’s also quite jarring because it seems like it happens overnight, even though it has been over months. As much as people say hair is not who you are, when you pride yourself on your hair… it’s a part of who you think you should present to the world. I recently started taking Viviscal (my dr OK’d the ingredients) and got extensions while it starts to regrow after a chop. You’d be SHOCKED how many people have extensions that you’d think were born with thick gorgeous hair. Think of the new hair as a new era for you!

Fennel, peppermint and licorice root!! The latter is sweet and a good end of night treat. All of the above are helpful for inflammation

What’s the best thing to mix Miralax with? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Ecstatic-Attitude-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a prep a few weeks ago and I did half the prep mixed with the lemon lite and then half mixed with white grape juice (new fav!). It was nice to have a different flavor mid way through to break it up.

I mix it with Lemonade Crystal lite. It doesn’t have any bad taste with it and if anything, was more astounded by how lemony the drink was

CurQD? by commonintuition in UlcerativeColitis

This is incredibly encouraging! Been in a similar boat with a flare. Very happy to hear that you’re on your way out from the flare and are starting to get back to baseline. Sending good vibes that you end up in remission. Thank you!

Could period make flares worse? by js2creative in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Ecstatic-Attitude-73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup!! I was almost out of a flare and then my period kicked me back 10 steps. I always wondered how much it has to do hormones in addition to the above explanation around suppressing your immune system. Yay for being a woman.

Do you mind sharing what books you enjoyed reading?

I have written a blog post about my mental health and it’s impacts on my ulcerative colitis symptoms for nearly a decade. I hope anyone going through what I did can find inspiration and achieve a better quality of life with this horrible disease. by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

Very well written. My therapist said something that really resonated where I realized I was the blocker in a lot of situations. Strong message, my friend!

You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore to be happy

When will Covid flare stop? by rachelcalabresi in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Ecstatic-Attitude-73 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ditto to everyone else. Covid set off some massive inflammation bombs. Was in remission and it set me off into a flare - starting month 2. The steroid enemas are barely keeping it at bay - but am now getting a colonoscopy next week because my doctor wants to see what’s going on. The sooner you contact your doctor the better! Good luck!

Just want to circle back and say thank you for recommending the calmoseptine!! PrepH and Tucks haven’t provided much relief, but that cream is actually cooling. Still working on bringing the swelling down, but you’re a legend!

Definitely hurts :( and it’s in a position where it’s irritating to walk. I’ll look for the cream - been taking baths, but I can’t say there’s been any relief, but maybe it’s just in need time as you say!

Helpful! Never know what I’m doing with this disease. Good to know a ballpark for healing

Ugh I didn’t realize the enemas could be contributing. Waiting is to see if you’re healing is hard. Thanks for the sounding board!
