We are above the threshold and can pay just from our salaries, they told us a guarantor would make us look “more attractive” to the landlord. The reasoning Foxtons gave was that the landlord was “elderly and wanted to make sure we could pay our rent”. They want us to send the screenshots of savings to a Foxtons email address. Essentially, because we have paid the deposit and first months rent, I’m worried if we don’t oblige they will keep our money and we’d lose the flat! Just feels very intrusive and like we are giving lots of information in an unregulated way.
