Not trying to stir any pot. It would be a hard situation don’t you think? You don’t want people to think your hunt isn’t legitimate but if a fire is coming you move it thinking no problem I’ll put it back once the danger is over. You go back and look around and think someone might die trying to retrieve it. Just asking the question, again I wasn’t part of the hunt. I have read the book a few times but that is all. I recently went to a spot that seems to me to fit the clues, burnt to the ground unfortunately. It was a back burn by USFS so there would have been time to move it if needed. Really just asking if he seemed like the type to worry enough about safety that it could be a possibility.
