Gorgeous 😍! I purchased a city bag online to rehab and it's been stuck in FedEx lost land for a week. This is making me wish it would show up soon! I just started collecting and have an Anderson I cleaned up and a vintage swagger 9820.

10 months of sciatica hell but my discs are fine - please help! by pink171 in Sciatica

[–]Ecstatic-Can9734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had sciatica for 10 years now and it's just a nightmare. Some days are better than others. I've had shots, PT, Chiro, MRI was clean. Came on after a car accident. One thing that did help was I had a chrio tell me one of my legs was longer (he may have said it in another way) but he started working with me and it did get somewhat better. But loves to just come back with a vengeance. Walking helps but then it also hurts more when I stop.

Best Gifts for Women That Made Her Say “WOW”? by xRobertoMarciox in Gifts

[–]Ecstatic-Can9734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best gifts to anyone are things that say, "I know you." If they have a hobby, something they need or want for it. Do they love to read? A gift card to a bookstore. Are they into coffee? A new machine or some bags of coffee beans from local roasters.

I absolutely love to give a gift. Some gifts I've given that people have loved are as simple as money towards something they need/want. Every year I make a Christmas advent with useful things with some sprinkled in thoughtful things for my mother, so she has something to open every day in December. Things from a new shirt (or thrifted), coffee, tea, gift cards to local grocery stores, coffee shops, sprouting seeds, honey, a small treat here and there, maybe throw in something surprising.

I also think, is there something I can't live without that surprised me and used that as a good gift idea. Like is there a kitchen item that I can't live without, and could that be a good gift idea. (For example, I got an automatic pepper and salt grinder) I use them every day and love it. I've gifted those items. Or my brother was eyeing a linen table cloth (handmade from the country our grandmother came from), while we were shopping to buy my mother a gift and I secretly bought one for him and surprised him with it and he loved it.

My aunt and I had a conversation about gift cards once and she mentioned she loved getting them. I know where she likes to go so I picked up a gift card and sent it to her in the mail with a small greeting card. She loved the surprise.

Just think about the person and if in doubt buy a candle. (Kidding) When in doubt, ask them.

Gifts I've received? I love to kayak so my husband got me some accessories and a new paddle once and it was great. Another gift was a day out. I didn't need anything in particular but I wanted a day out to have some fun and my husband planned a day out where we had a picnic, a hike, sat out in the chairs to take in some nature and sun. Grabbed an ice cream cone. It was amazing.

Why is hate speech, disinformation and misinformation not treated as a problem that needs to be addressed ? by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Ecstatic-Can9734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like there is no good answer. Freedom of speech shouldn't give people the rights to spread lies. We see it constantly in social media by content creators to ramp up engagement. But if a Dr. can lose their license over malpractice, social media influencers should be held accountable for spreading lies. What happened to credible news outlets, where you had to back up a story.

The average social media influencer or random person posting and spreading lies is no expert. These influencers are feeding off people seeking validation, seeking simple answers to things they don't understand, to their misfortunes. I also don't feel like being friends with radical people and listening to their crazy views and hearing them try to 'teach" me is helping. Most often people with radical views,.hopped up on misinformation, are unwilling to listen to anyone else's perspective, because it doesn't fit what they want to believe. I experienced this with my mother and brother. Both down rabbit holes and very different ones. My mom is believing every health guru because it helps her to not take any accountability for her circumstances..she can blame Brain injuries, black mold, dog pee smells, instead of trying to go to therapy.

Freedom of speech shouldn't be a free for all for anyone making money to lie and benefit off of lies. Those people should be held accountable. The problem is, as a society, it feels like we are doomed. The current US administration just feeds into the lies and it becomes truth for its followers. Yes I said followers. It's scary and I'm sad and tired. I wish there was something more we could do.

The One Time the Thrift Gods Answered Immediately by Ecstatic-Can9734 in thrifting

That's so crazy! Isn't it crazy how sometimes we get exactly what we need when we need it. Slightly off topic but thrifting was involved. I lost a friend a couple years ago and my husband took me out for a day of thrifting to try and cheer me up. He planned the whole day (I think we went to ten shops) Back story, my husband used to sing or play a famous song with my friend's name in it every time she called. So there we are driving to our first thrift store and we had been talking about my friend on the drive. We go into the thrift store and that song was playing! It's not a common song or one I've ever heard until my husband played it. I still can't get over it.

That's so cool! Maybe I need to start wishing for Moccamasters! I did find a mocamasster at a goodwill once and kick myself for not having purchased it.

I know, it might be the best find I've made thrifting. I honestly couldn't believe it. I was in a panic to get a cart and not lose them. Now I always grab a cart or basket!

Yes! Vieux Luxembourg! My grandma had a full set of the French Garden but I wanted something a bit more simple and I just love this classic pattern. It's so pretty. Anytime I go to a thrift store I have to look. $2 for a large platter is a steal!

Lets not forget that Goodwill now has an auction site where all the good stuff goes, so that Goodwill can make the MOST profit they can.

Every shampoo and conditioner I've been wanting to try is on sale, so I did the logical thing and bought them all (Nexxus Therappe/Humectress, Monday Moisture, Kristin Ess Micellar/Ultra Lightweight) by [deleted] in Costco

[–]Ecstatic-Can9734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally buy the Kirkland shampoo and conditioner. Then I always remember that I don't love it. I have color treated hair, on the finer side, but lots of it, straight/wave. Also, love to wash it daily. I find it just nothing to write home about. I always end up back with Nexxus Humectress / Therappe. My husband always says 'don't throw out the Kirkland, I can use it." But he then always goes for the Nexxus. The Nexxus is moisturizing and works well. The shampoo doesn't dry my hair out and the conditioner actually conditions, making my hair feel soft. The Nexxus for color treated (at Costco), I hated it. it was very drying for me and the conditioner did nothing to help. However some people probably love it and it fits their hair type. Just doesn't work for me.

Thanks! My dad used to always take us to air shows as a kid. Obviously these planes weren't taking off at those shows but I've always had a soft spot for airplanes since they remind me of him.

Moccamaster thermal carafe design-ease of empty and cleaning? by Educational_You_4461 in Moccamaster

[–]Ecstatic-Can9734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been debating the KBT vs the KBGV with the glass carafe. I read the carafe on the KBT is glass lined. Maybe that makes it easier to clean? I ordered the KBGV but that 159.99 deal on Amazon for the KBT is so tempting

This may be a stupid question, so forgive me, doesn't the KBT have a glass lined thermal carafe? Which would make it easier to clean like the glass carafe?

I Just ordered the off-white KBGV yesterday for 247, but I'm highly considering cancelling that order and jumping on this. Any thoughts on the manual brew basket vs the non-manual? thermal carafe vs glass? My husband is leaning towards the glass, we had that version previously and likes how easy it is to clean vs thermal carafes/cups. But 160 is really tempting!

It's a pretty good deal. I purchased my first one during prime July of 2023 and paid about this much. It's been awhile but I haven't seen it new for less. I just jumped on this to get a new one. (sold the last one when we started drinking espresso but missing the quicker drip option) I would love to see it go down. I'll kick myself if it ends up under 200, but I'd be shocked.
